Job Title: Kitchen Lead
Location: Cerulean Blue Coffee House – Flower Mound, TX
Reports To: Hospitality Manager

Position Summary

The Kitchen Lead is responsible for leading and supporting the back-of-house team, overseeing the preparation and execution of the hot and cold food lines, inventory and ordering, and more. This role ensures food is consistently prepared to standard, staff are properly trained and guided, and the kitchen operates efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong cooking skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing team members while upholding Cerulean Blue’s mission of Serving Joy and Transforming the Community.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Support

Train, mentor, and guide line cooks and prep staff to maintain quality and consistency.
Lead by example during shifts, demonstrating proper cooking, plating, and kitchen practices.
Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth workflow and timely service.
Serve as the go-to leader for resolving shift-related operational or staffing concerns.

Operational Oversight

Supervise hot and cold line preparation, ensuring accuracy, speed, and quality.
Assist with inventory, receiving, and stocking while maintaining proper rotation and par levels.
Support implementation of new menu items, recipes, and procedures from the Kitchen Manager.
Help manage food costs and minimize waste through efficient prep and production.

Food Quality & Presentation

Ensure all menu items are prepared, plated, and presented according to Cerulean Blue standards.
Uphold consistency in flavor, portioning, and presentation across the team.
Monitor line checks, prep lists, and station readiness throughout each shift.

Cleanliness & Food Safety

Enforce food safety standards, health code compliance, and kitchen sanitation procedures.
Ensure all kitchen equipment, tools, and workspaces are clean, sanitized, and well maintained.
Monitor and enforce cleaning checklists for daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
Address any safety or sanitation issues immediately, coaching staff on corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience

1 year of supervisory or shift lead experience in a kitchen setting (preferred).
1 year of line cook experience with hot and cold food preparation (preferred).

Skills

Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to train and mentor team members.
Skilled in multitasking, organization, and maintaining composure under pressure.

Requirements

Ability to commute to Flower Mound, TX 75028 (required).
