Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, programs, and protocols for personnel, vehicles, and facilities.
Lead all safety and compliance training: new hire orientation, defensive driving, CPR/First Aid, drug & alcohol awareness, equipment operation, emergency response.
Manage accident/incident investigations, root cause analysis, claims support, and corrective actions.
Supervise the performance of supervisors, trainers, and administrative staff; coach and reinforce safety/customer service expectations.
Conduct on-road driver evaluations, monitor performance, analyze safety data and trends to drive improvements.
Coordinate fleet and facility safety inspections, equipment maintenance, and safety equipment compliance (including SDS documentation).
Administer drug & alcohol programs, manage worker’s compensation processes, and ensure adherence to regulations (DOT, FTA, OSHA, ADA, etc.).

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree (Education, Safety Management, or related field) or equivalent experience.
5–10 years progressive experience in safety management, preferably in transit or fleet operations, with supervisory responsibilities.
In-depth knowledge of transit safety systems, policies, and regulations (DOT, FTA, OSHA, ADA, NLRA, FLSA, etc.).
Demonstrated experience in driver training and certified in CPR/First Aid and drug & alcohol awareness programs.
Strong analytical ability to evaluate accident trends and implement preventative measures.
Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook; PowerPoint a plus) and safety management systems.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated salary range: 80,000 to 90,000
