Full Job Description

Project Interior Designer

General Description:

Works with the entire team (closely with the Design Team, Materials and Production Manager). Successfully complete the goal of the main task at hand - a project selling. Goes on in-home consultations, sells design and feasibility agreements, and ultimately proposes the final scope of work to sign a work agreement. Often will serve as the "main contact during the sale" between the Production, Designers, and Clients, and must understand the delicate balance that co-exists. Works with Co-Construct, Google Drive, Pipedrive, etc... Meets with client at "Measure & Design Consult" meetings. Creates plans and 3-D renderings of new projects using design software. Meets with the Production Manager if necessary to review the design and scope of work for each project. Schedule and meet with clients in person or via Zoom to present new design plans & 3-D renderings. Create a "shopping list" of products and vendors. Goes shopping w/ clients to different locations for tile, countertop, cabinet, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, doors and windows. Work with the Project Designer in preparation for trade walks. Work with vendors and trades for pricing of material and labor cost information. Review and update scope of work for each project. Meets with the salesperson & client for project proposal. Orders selected job selections. Creates a work binder and materials folder for Office meetings. Attends office meetings & 1 Pre-Construction on site with clients. Pass on detailed ordered information to Production.

Basic Qualifications:

2 years’ experience.
Interior Design degree.
Residential construction knowledge.
Above average technology use, Design software, Microsoft Office, Google, etc..
Fully understand and interpret plans and specifications for a project.
Knowledge of all phases of construction.
Willingness to learn and adapt, working within the team culture.
Willingness to lend a hand, clean up, sweep a broom, etc…if needed.
Owner mentality.
Eye for detail and quality. Focused on Customer Service and Quality First.
Must be able to communicate above average, verbally and in writing.
Above average leadership qualities.

Primary Tasks:

Meet with salesperson and client at “Measure & Design consult” meeting.

Confirm with the client the scope of work and vision of what the project entails.
Designer and salesperson will take dimensions, before photos, and videos of the current site.
Request from client to share any design ideas and “Pinterest boards” to help determine client’s preferred design ideas and styles.
Give the client a timeline of when to expect a “design review."

Create plans and 3-D renderings of new projects using design software.

Create plan views.
Create elevations.
Create perspectives.
Create walk-thru videos.

Meet with the production manager if necessary to review the design and scope of work.

Confirm with the engineer for load bearing questions.
Confirm the project is feasible and can be accomplished as drawn.
Review initial scope of work.
Get list names of trades required for trade walk.

Schedule Design Review to meet with clients, in person or via zoom to present new design plans & 3D renderings.

Communicate with the client via Co-Construct, email, phone calls or text.
Present possible different options. Typically, no more than 2.
Discuss with clients and make suggestions based on their feedback of initial designs.
Schedule another meeting if considerable changes are required.
If slight changes are required. Post these renderings under files in Co-Construct and send a message to the client that changes are ready for them to review on Co-Construct.
Once the client approves the final design, request if the client is ready to move forward with the next design phase (shopping with the interior designer).
If a trade walk is necessary. Give the salesperson the names of trade partners that the production manager requested for the project.

Create a “shopping list” of products and vendors for the interior designer to use as a guide for product selection for the client's project. Work with the project coordinator in preparation for the trade walk.

Create necessary plans & renderings for trade walks.
Create a scope of work required for each trade.
Give a written date & time deadline for labor estimates to be submitted along with the "estimates" email.
Attend the trade walk along with the project designer and salesperson.

Work with vendors and trades for pricing of material and labor cost information.

Communicate with vendors & trades via email, phone calls or text, to remind them of deadlines.
Work up numbers required for material amounts. i.e. (tile sq/ft)
Work with project coordinator on updating material and labor cost numbers under estimate tab in Co-construct.

Review and make necessary updates to scope of work.

Confirm that the scope of work has not changed.
Make changes to scope of work added during the design process.
Make changes to scope of work that was deleted during the design process.

Meet with salesperson & client for project proposal.

Be prepared to review project drawings, plans, and 3D renderings.
Be prepared to assist with any questions or clarify any decisions made during the design phase. i.e. (final selections or finish colors)

Create the work binder and materials folder for the office meeting.

Work with the project designer to provide necessary plans and renderings for binder. i.e. (Demo plan, final plan w/ necessary dimensions, framing layouts, plumbing layout, electrical layout, flooring layout. Elevations for plumbing & electrical, tile layouts.)
Work with the project coordinator to provide necessary plans & renderings required to apply for job permits with the city and HOA.
Work with vendors to supply necessary specifications for ordered product selections and installation instructions.
Place orders for all product selections.
Provide a list and/or copies of ordered product selections along with necessary contact names, phone & email contacts. This is to be placed in a folder & given to the materials manager during the Office Meeting.

Attend the Office Meeting & 1st Pre-Construction on site with clients.

Provide any detailed ordered information to the Materials Manager.

Be available for clarifying questions from the production team during the production process of projects.

Help with anything that Sales, Design, and Production may need to implement to perform its duties.

Constant improvement of self and team.

Anything else needed.
