Production Manager – CNC Programming & Manufacturing Operations

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in CNC programming, machine setup, and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can maximize production efficiency by optimizing CNC programs, reducing setup times, improving workflow, and leading a high-performing production team.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives on continuous improvement, has deep machining knowledge, and understands how to increase productivity while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
● Manage daily production operations to ensure on-time delivery and high-quality output.
● Program, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC mills and lathes using CAM software and G-code.
● Develop and implement efficient machine setups that minimize downtime and maximize spindle utilization.
● Standardize setup procedures, tooling, and work instructions to improve consistency and reduce cycle times.
● Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
● Lead, mentor, and train machinists, setup technicians, and production personnel.
● Coordinate production schedules with engineering, purchasing, and quality departments.
● Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
● Monitor machine performance, tooling life, and preventive maintenance schedules.
● Drive lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications
● 5+ years of experience in CNC machining and manufacturing, with leadership or management experience preferred.
● Expert knowledge of CNC programming, setup, tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies.
● Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, or similar.
● Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, precision measuring instruments, and manufacturing processes.
● Proven ability to reduce setup times and improve production efficiency.
● Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling.
● Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with multi-axis CNC machining centers.
● Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
● Knowledge of fixture design and process development.
● Ability to create standardized work instructions and production documentation.
