Gardener / Landscaper (Ecological Restoration & Native Landscapes)

Position Overview
As a Gardener/Landscaper, you will work alongside our team to install, maintain, and restore sustainable landscapes. This is a physically demanding position that requires a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn ecological landscaping techniques.
Experience is appreciated, but we are equally interested in applicants who are dependable, eager to learn, and take pride in producing high-quality work.
Responsibilities
- Install trees, shrubs, grasses, and native perennial plants
- Perform ecological garden maintenance
- Identify and remove invasive plant species
- Mulch, edge, prune, and maintain planting beds
- Assist with food forest and native garden installations
- Operate landscaping equipment including:
- Weed trimmers
- Backpack blowers
- Hedge trimmers
- Hand pruners, loppers, and saws
- Safely apply herbicides for invasive plant management while following company protocols and wearing required PPE
- Load and unload tools, materials, and plants
- Assist with custom hardscape projects including patios, pathways, retaining features, and garden structures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
- Represent Front Yard Forest professionally while interacting with clients
Qualifications
- Ability to perform strenuous outdoor physical labor throughout the workday
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, including heat and humidity
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly
- Willingness to learn ecological landscaping and native plant identification
- Comfortable operating landscaping equipment or willing to be trained
- Willing to safely apply herbicides using proper PPE and company training
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Valid driver's license preferred
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Typical hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Start and end times may vary depending on weather, project requirements, seasonal workload, and site priorities.
- Occasional overtime may be available.
