Job Overview

We are urgently seeking dedicated Kentucky Medication Aides (KMA) to join our vibrant healthcare team! In this vital role, you will assist with medication administration, support patient comfort, and promote well-being in a variety of care settings. Duties

Safely administer prescribed medications following all state healthcare regulations and medical documentation standards
Monitor and record vital signs, patient responses, and medication effects accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and feeding, ensuring dignity and comfort
Provide specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other memory impairments, including memory care techniques
Support patients with tube feeding, catheter care, and other complex medical procedures while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards
Observe patients closely for changes in condition or behavior related to developmental disabilities or geriatric health issues
Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care plans are followed effectively

Requirements

Valid Kentucky Medication Aide (KMA) certification in accordance with the State Board of Nursing
Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments
Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic life support (CPR) skills
Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Epic or Cerner; experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems preferred
Ability to perform manual handling tasks and heavy lifting safely while caring for geriatric or disabled patients
Strong caregiving skills combined with patience and empathy when working with individuals with disabilities or memory impairments
Understanding of HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance
Excellent communication skills for accurate medical documentation and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
Additional qualifications such as assisted living experience, hospice care background, working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or acute care experience are highly desirable
