Kitchen Manager Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead the kitchen operations at our high-volume BBQ restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of BBQ cooking techniques, a flair for Southern-style cuisine, and proven experience managing kitchen teams. You will be responsible for maintaining high food quality, consistency, and safety standards while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities

Kitchen Leadership: Oversee all back-of-house operations including food preparation, cooking, and plating, ensuring quality and consistency of all BBQ dishes.
Team Management: Hire, train, schedule, and lead a team of cooks, pitmasters, prep staff, and dishwashers. Foster a positive, productive, and team-focused kitchen culture.
Recipe & Menu Development: Collaborate with ownership to develop, test, and refine BBQ recipes and seasonal menu items, keeping with authentic styles and local preferences.
Inventory & Ordering: Manage food inventory, place orders with vendors, and control food costs through efficient stock rotation and waste management.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety standards are met and enforced in accordance with local and state regulations.
Quality Control: Monitor food production and presentation to maintain consistency with restaurant standards.
Cost Control: Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and achieving food and labor cost targets.
Equipment Oversight: Maintain and monitor kitchen equipment including smokers, grills, and fryers; coordinate necessary repairs and servicing.

Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years of culinary/kitchen management experience; BBQ or Southern cuisine background strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of BBQ techniques (e.g., smoking, grilling, dry rubs, marinades, wood types).
ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Passion for great food, great service, and Southern hospitality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
