CAD Draftsman

Our Design & Drafting Department plays a critical role in transforming our customers' visions into accurate construction plans that guide every phase of the building process.
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented IN-HOUSE Draftsman to join our design team. This is NOT a remote position. You must be living in the area or willing to relocate for this opportunity.
In this role, you will prepare accurate construction drawings, revise plans, collaborate with internal departments, and ensure each project is completed to Meadowlark Log Homes' quality standards. You will work closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Project Management to create plans that are both functional and buildable while supporting an exceptional customer experience.

Draftsman Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate log home construction drawings and production plans using CAD software.
- Review customer contracts, specifications, and design documents to ensure drawings accurately reflect project requirements.
- Revise drawings based on customer selections, engineering requirements, field conditions, and internal feedback.
- Collaborate daily with Sales, Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Project Management to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure drawings comply with Meadowlark Log Homes' construction standards and applicable building codes.
- Maintain organized electronic project files and documentation.
- Verify dimensions, material specifications, and structural details for accuracy.
- Communicate design questions and potential issues promptly to supervisors and project stakeholders.
- Assist with developing standard drawing details and improving drafting processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and communication.
- Adhere to Meadowlark Log Homes quality standards at all times.
- Follow all Meadowlark Log Homes policies without exception.
- Conduct yourself in alignment with Meadowlark Log Homes' vision, mission, and values.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
- Maintain punctuality and dependable attendance.

Position Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Full-time commitment required.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable CAD drafting software.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Experience with residential construction, timber frame, or log home design preferred but not required.
- Associate degree or technical training in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for extended periods.
- Frequent computer and CAD workstation use.
- Occasional standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Visual acuity to review detailed drawings and specifications.
- Occasional bending, reaching, and carrying project materials.
