Description:
This is a scientist level position responsible for supporting a wide variety of lab compliance activities and tasks. This person will be relied upon to exercise independent judgement based on gained knowledge, skills and experience to support project management.
Position Duties for Analytical Scientist
- Develop new test methods and write validation protocols and technology transfers as directed.
- Write testing reports, TMs, and SOPs or other documents as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
- The ability to perform troubleshooting on analytical instrumentation and brings issues to resolution
- Non-routine testing, customer analyses, and method verification.
- Responsible for Preventative Maintenance (PM), calibration, and proper operation of analytical instrumentation as directed including vendor PMVs and OVs.
- Identify gaps and recommend resolutions to testing and lab issues.
- Provide recommendation of uncommon material behavior or testing results.
- Keep compliance to cGMP, ISO 13485, and other regulations as needed.
- Train and provide mentorship to Technicians as needed.
- Select and onboard new analytical equipment, including installation and qualification.
- Assist with lab planning, organization, and 5S for analytical labs support customer needs, and support safety.
- Properly maintains instrumentation -hardware and software related including communication with vendors.
- Spends at least 10% of time learning one or two techniques in-depth.
- Works with IT to support backing up data, and network instrumentation.
- Organizes data for presentation and reports with relevant statistical evaluations .
- Guides a technician’s work (whether by submission or direct) to gather data, performs needed analysis and evaluation for studies with oversight from Lead.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: At a minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related science.
Years of Experience: 3 years writing and conducting method development/validation/transfer in a regulated environment with hands on experience in polymer characterization.
Strong independent working skills, excel skills, and critical reasoning skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fiber/textile mechanical characterization and fiber/textile chemistry background with 5 years method development work and method validation writing.
Or PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science, or related science field.
