Full Job Description

Job Overview

The Powder Coating Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Powder Coating Division, ensuring quality standards, production schedules, and safety requirements. This role supervises powder coating personnel, coordinates workflow, drives continuous improvement, and develops team. The Supervisor works cross-functionally with other divisions to meet organizational goals and deliver exceptional results for customers. The Powder Coating Supervisor reports directly to the COO.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop their assigned team
Manage daily powder coating operations including surface preparation, application processes, curing, packaging, and material handling.
Enforce compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Obtain all required documentation for divisional work, including quality checks, production records, and material usage.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and elevate overall performance.
Implement Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives.
Administer effective daily divisional production meetings and contribute to company-wide planning and forecasting.
Coordinate with customers and sales regarding lead times, special requirements, and all job inquiries/updates.
Collaborate with Sales and other team members to generate, review, and approve quotes for customer opportunities.
Utilize vendors as needed to ensure optimal supply levels of powder, chemicals, and equipment.
This position safeguards Colonial’s information network with user access privileges.
Ensure all coatings meet internal quality standards and customer requirements.
Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Ensure all projects are completed on time, within quality standards, and according to customer specifications.
Maintain strong understanding of powder coating application equipment, curing ovens, pretreatment systems, and filtration systems.
Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for division equipment and partner with maintenance staff to minimize downtime.
Actively review production reports, set & track KPIs, and adjust workflow to meet performance targets.
Oversee workforce planning including scheduling, task assignment, and managing labor efficiency.
Prioritize work orders and production based on scheduling and customer commitments.
Review and update job statuses, work orders, and production schedules within Steelhead.
Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
Foster a positive, safety‑focused, and collaborative team culture.

Skills & Qualifications

1-3 years of experience in powder coating, industrial finishing, or related manufacturing environment.
1+ years of supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
Knowledge of powder coating materials, pretreatment processes, application equipment, and curing systems.
Ability to interpret job travelers, technical specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
Strong problem‑solving abilities with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Proficient with production software or ERP systems (preferred).
Ability to lift-up to 50 pounds

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
