Full Job Description

Daily Living Skills CoordinatorLead a brand-new program in your own community

MC Community Services is building its Section 17 Community Support Services line, and we're looking for a Daily Living Skills Coordinator to help launch it. You'll supervise and support our Daily Living Support (DLS) Workers — the staff who help adults living with serious mental illness build and keep the everyday skills that let them live as independently as possible — while carrying a small caseload of your own.

This is a rare chance to shape a program from the ground up: you'll set the tone for how we do the work, mentor a new team, and make sure the people we serve get consistent, high-quality support in their homes and communities.

What you'll do

You'll split your time between leading the DLS team and doing the work yourself. A typical week might include:

Supervising and developing the team

Onboarding, training, and coaching DLS Workers, and being their go-to point of contact.
Reviewing documentation for accuracy, quality, and timeliness under MaineCare Section 17 requirements.
Assigning caseloads, building predictable schedules, and balancing workload across the team.
Guiding staff through tough situations — safety concerns, symptom changes, difficult days — and stepping in when they need backup.

Carrying your own small caseload

Providing one-on-one support to adults with mental illness in their homes and out in the community, following each person's individual support plan — cooking a meal together, working a budget, building routines for housekeeping and medications, practicing independent transportation, and helping people connect with the places and activities they care about.

Keeping the program compliant and connected

Making sure services, documentation, and service plans meet MaineCare Section 17 standards, including Electronic Visit Verification.
Staying in regular contact with each person's care team and referral sources.
Always protecting the privacy and dignity of the people we serve.

Who we're looking for

A genuine commitment to supporting adults with mental illness toward greater independence.
Someone who leads by example — patient, reliable, organized, and comfortable making sound judgment calls independently in the community.
Strong communication and record-keeping skills; able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
The steadiness to coach and support a new team while the program finds its footing.

Required to be hired

MHRT-1 (Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician/1) certification — the required credential for Daily Living Support staff under MaineCare Section 17.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid State of Maine driver's license in good standing and a safe, reliable vehicle.
At least 18 years of age.
Access to a cell phone.
Successful completion of background-check requirements in accordance with MC and MaineCare requirements.

A plus (but not required)

Prior supervisory, lead, or coordinator experience in behavioral health, residential, or community support.
MHRT/C certification, or a degree in human services or a related field.
CPR / First Aid or CRMA certification.
Direct experience delivering Section 17, Section 28, or similar MaineCare community-based services.

Schedule

This role starts as part-time, with strong potential to grow into full-time as the program and caseload expand. We'll build a consistent, predictable schedule with you. Hours are generally daytime and early evening, with some flexibility depending on caseload and location. If you need a schedule that works around family, school, or another commitment, let's talk.

What we offer

$23.00–$28.00 per hour — a posted range, not "discussed at interview." Placement based on experience and credentials.
