ABOUT THE ROLE:
Responsible for meeting patient’s priority needs by assessing the patient, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing and/or delegating direct patient care consistent with bedside nursing standards, including executing therapeutic physician-and nurse-initiated interventions, monitoring vital signs, administering specialty medications and chemotherapies requiring specialized handling, unique administration and intensive patient monitoring, performing complex nursing treatments, and responding promptly to changes in patient conditions and assessing and reporting progress toward clinical outcomes, and evaluating the patient's response to care and progress toward clinical outcomes. Contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation and/or resourcing of other healthcare teams and providers to coordinate patient outcomes and experience. Responsible for the appropriate delegation of nursing care to licensed and unlicensed personnel according to Nebraska statute.
For Cardiac Rehab - Whenever possible, includes the family or significant others in the plan of care of the patient. Coordinates care and communicates essential information between other professional disciplines as needed and uses available resources and innovative strategies to provide care. Empowers the patient and/or significant others to make informed changes in health-related behaviors. Responsible for the promotion of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. Assesses tolerance of activity levels and adjusts program as determined by patient’s ability.
YOUR ROLE WOULD ENCOMPASS:

- Performs hospital outpatient nursing skill set, including but not limited to: Administration of specialty medication through routes of intravenous infusions, injections and/or port or central line access. Continuous monitoring and assessment for therapeutic response and potential drug reactions.
- Performs blood product transfusions, central line access and maintenance, port-a-catheter access and maintenance. Upholds infection prevention, medication safety and patient safety protocols to maintain a clean, therapeutic and safe care environment.
- Administers complex medications and treatments safely, according to policy, and provider orders. Including hazardous medications and chemotherapeutic agents while providing continuous assessment and monitoring for adverse or toxic effects.
- Provides comprehensive management of oncology patients, including laboratory assessment, nurse assessment, medication education, infusion management, electrolyte replacement, injection administration and coordination of care with Oncology Nurse Navigator, primary care provider, and oncology/hematology provider team.
- Educate patient on stress testing procedure. Performs cardiac stress testing, collaborating with nuclear medicine technologists and cardiologist to ensure safe and accurate monitoring throughout the testing appointment. Continuously observes and interprets EKGs, hemodynamic responses, and patient status before, during, and after the procedure.
- Assist echocardiography technologist with diagnostic testing, including IV insertion, bubble studies and administration and documentation of intravenous contrast agents, ensuring patient comfort and procedural safety.
- Makes accurate and timely observation and documents changes in the patient’s condition in the patient chart accurately and according to policy.
- Addresses and applies interpretation of diagnostic/monitoring data to the plan of care.
- Performs and assist with specialty provider multifaceted clinical procedures, including but not limited to: Assisting specialty providers with ultrasound guided injection procedures, intra-articular joint injections, microscopic ear exams, laryngoscope exams, gynecological outpatient testing and physical procedures, local anesthetic excision procedures, independent nursing assessment of wound(s) and coordination of care with ordering provider, including non-selective debridement of wound(s). Performs and documents comprehensive wound assessments, applies appropriate dressings, patient status, and wound measurements. Communicates patient status to the ordering provider.
- Access, maintain and update patient status on wound-vac portal.
- Appropriately interacts with patients/families from a variety of developmental and sociocultural backgrounds; seeks interpreter assistance as appropriate.
- Provides education and support to patients and families to promote understanding, prevention, and reduced anxiety.
- Serves as EPIC super user, managing therapy plans and supporting staff and departments in system use.
- Schedules referrals from department work queues and assist department scheduling with Appointment Recall List.
- Administers medication according to policy and provider orders.
- Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for the patients, visitors, and CAMC team.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:
Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Nebraska required or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within three (3) months of hire. Chemotherapy Competency Education required prior to administering chemotherapy independently. Wound Treatment Associate Education required within one (1) year of hire.
