Position Summary
TAB Performance is seeking a skilled Machinist to produce precision components using a combination of CNC and manual machining equipment. This is more than a machine operator role. The ideal candidate is a hands-on craftsman who understands machining principles, setup strategies, tooling, and problem-solving on the shop floor.
This position supports production manufacturing, prototype development, new product initiatives, and the fabrication of internal tooling. The Machinist plays a critical role in maintaining quality, efficiency, and flexibility throughout our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components
- Operate manual machines including mills, lathes, saws, and drill presses as needed
- Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and work instructions
- Perform setups, tooling selection, and basic fixture adjustments
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision tools
- Maintain quality standards through first-piece and in-process inspection
- Support prototype, repair, and low-volume production work
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust setups as needed
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturability
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience preferred in a functioning machine shop
- Experience operating CNC machining equipment
- Strong understanding of machining fundamentals (feeds, speeds, tooling, setups)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T basics
- Experience using precision measurement tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently in a shop environment
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience with manual mills and lathes
- Job shop, prototype, or low-volume manufacturing experience
- CNC setup experience (not just operation)
- Experience with CAM and program editing
Work Environment
- Hands-on manufacturing shop environment
- Mix of CNC production, manual machining, and prototype work

Pay: $26.00 - $41.00 per hour
