Job Overview
The Group Sales Manager serves as the primary sales leader responsible for generating and securing new group lodging business for RiverWalk Resort and food and beverage event business for Mountainside Culinary Group at RiverWalk. This role focuses on proactively identifying new opportunities, cultivating relationships, conducting resort tours, and converting prospects into contracted business. The ideal candidate is a motivated sales professional with a passion for hospitality, strong relationship-building skills and a proven ability to achieve revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Dedicate a minimum of 40 hours per week to prospecting, developing, and securing new group business opportunities.
- Proactively generate leads and pursue new business through various sales channels, including database mining, telephone outreach, email marketing, networking events, bridal and travel shows, community partnerships, and personal sales visits.
- Develop and execute an annual group sales plan with measurable quarterly goals and action strategies to meet booking objectives.
- Coordinate and conduct resort tours for prospective clients and brides, showcasing the resort’s accommodations, event spaces, outlets and amenities.
- Learn the resort’s occupancy patterns, seasonality and booking trends to strategically target group business during periods of greatest need.
- Participate in weekly group sales review meetings to evaluate new bookings, lost business opportunities and sales leads funnel.
- Respond promptly to inquiries and manage the sales process from initial contact through contract execution.
- Prepare, negotiate, and distribute group sales agreements outlining event details, pricing, deposits, payment schedules and package inclusions.
- Follow up with clients to secure signed contracts and communicate finalized agreements to the Group Housing Coordinator, Event Coordinator and Food & Beverage Director.
- Maintain accurate and organized files for all group accounts, including contracts, communications, and booking details.
- Generate repeat business through exceptional customer service and ongoing relationship management.
- Maintain strong client relationships through post-event follow-up, thank-you communications and future business development efforts.
- Manage and maintain the TripleSeat group database and The Knot wedding platform to ensure all account information remains accurate and up to date.
- Assist in creating and promoting special event weekend packages.
Event Planning & Internal Collaboration
- Work with the Food & Beverage Director and Banquet Chef to develop customized catering pricing and event packages if needed at the time of booking.
- Work closely with the General Manager and Group Housing Coordinator to establish room blocks, group rates and VIP accommodations as needed.
- Support the Event Coordinator and Food & Beverage team with event planning, menu tastings, and occasional onsite event execution.
- Welcome and greet groups upon arrival, ensuring a seamless and exceptional guest experience from start to finish.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of hospitality sales, catering sales, event sales, or related experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively across departments.
- Experience working within a resort, hotel, or destination hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations and event planning processes.
- Established network of group travel contacts and/or, hospitality partners is a plus.
Compensation
RiverWalk Resort at Loon Mountain offers a competitive compensation package that includes a base salary, benefits, and performance-based bonus opportunities. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated sales success.
Pay: $57,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
