JOB SUMMARY:
The Applications Programmer III (Appian) is a senior-level professional responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining complex business process management (BPM) applications using the Appian low-code platform. This role requires extensive expertise in Appian development, a strong understanding of software engineering principles, and the ability to lead and mentor less experienced developers. This position also serves as the Appian platform administrator, responsible for the health, configuration, and governance of the Appian instance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and implement complex Appian applications, including process models, interfaces, data types, expressions, and integrations
- Administer the Appian platform, including environment configuration, user and group management, security groups, performance monitoring, and version upgrades
- Lead technical design sessions with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable Appian solutions
- Develop and maintain integrations between Appian and external systems using web APIs, connected systems, and Appian Records
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level Appian developers, including code reviews and best-practice standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application defects, performance bottlenecks, and platform issues
- Establish and enforce Appian development standards, reusable components, and governance processes across projects
- Support release management activities, including environment promotion, deployment packages, and rollback procedures
- Document application design, configuration, and administration procedures in accordance with contract and quality requirements
- Collaborate with Project Managers and government stakeholders to plan sprints, estimate level of effort, and report on progress
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree
- Minimum of 6-8 years of application development experience, including at least 4 years of hands-on Appian development
- Current Appian certification required (any Appian certification tier or credential level is acceptable)
- Demonstrated experience administering an Appian environment, including system configuration and platform health monitoring
- Experience developing integrations using SOAP/REST web services, SQL, and Appian's Integration and Connected System objects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience supporting federal government clients or working within a federal contracting environment
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Experience with Appian Records, Sites, and Process Mining/Process HQ
- Working knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and SQL query development
- Understanding of Zero Trust and federal cybersecurity/compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST 800-53)
- Active or eligible for a public trust or security clearance, as required by the contract

Pay: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
