Eddie’s Candy & Gift Department is home to hundreds of sweet confections, a colorful array of flowers, made-in-Maryland coffees, teas, and goodies, and an expansive selection of seasonal gifts, toys, and baskets. As a Candy/Floral Clerk, your friendly, dependable, and customer-focused manner will help the Candy & Gift Department succeed in driving sales to the business and delivering smiles to its shoppers.

This position is based in a fast-paced environment with a focus on customer satisfaction. Renowned for its superior selection and exceptional service, Eddie’s of Roland Park is an independent, family-owned grocery destination that has served the greater Baltimore community for more than 75 years.

The Candy/Floral Clerk provides outstanding customer service, greets customers in a polite manner and is responsible for product appearance and profit achievement for the department.

This is a seasonal, part-time position to assist the Company during the summer and into the holidays. This position could and often does lead to other opportunities within the company.

Responsibilities:

Effectively and positively interact with customers by greeting customers and provide assistance, as needed.
Fill customer candy order requests efficiently while maintaining a clean and safe work area; assist with recommendations as needed.
Reduce product waste by carefully measuring and packing orders.
Utilize proper food handling techniques.
Monitor candy, flowers, coffee, and potted plants to ensure appropriate product availability.
Fill and rotate products, as necessary.
Maintain the candy and gift counters by cleaning, facing, and/or organizing stock, wiping down counters and cases.
Perform plant/floral maintenance such as watering, trimming and rotating products for best merchandising.
Create floral arrangements and assist customers with selections.
Prepare coffee and ensure all coffee bins are filled and prepped for customer purchase.
Check and fill orders (baskets, bags, flowers, chocolates, candy, etc.) daily as required.
Ensure orders are filled accurately and timely to meet delivery and pick-up schedules.
Determine quantities needed and order bulk coffee and bulk candy weekly as directed.
Maintain knowledge of all department products and placement throughout the store.
Build relationships with our customers.
Advise department manager of unavailability or low availability of items.
Perform product inventories.
Work with the management team to help meet sales goals, promote upcoming events and holidays.
Dynamically sell product by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions.
Accurately and efficiently run a cash register as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior retail experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge of retail sales.
Ability to create positive customer relationships.
Dependable, reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule.
Results-oriented professional with excellent customer service skills.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions.
