Max a Mia is an upscale, Italian-inspired restaurant known for its artisan pizzas, wood-fired dishes, and signature Italian recipes. Located in Avon, CT, Max a Mia has become a regional favorite, offering an authentic Italian dining experience paired with outstanding service. The ideal candidate for this position will be a motivated and experienced cook who thrives in a high-volume, team-driven kitchen.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook dishes according to menu specifications, focusing on wood-fired pizzas, pasta, and Italian-inspired entrees
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times
Follow recipes, portion sizes, and plating standards to ensure consistency and quality
Assist with daily prep tasks, including chopping, prepping sauces, and organizing ingredients
Ensure proper rotation and storage of ingredients to maintain freshness and minimize waste
Work closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and fellow cooks to ensure smooth service
Contribute to a positive, team-focused kitchen environment that fosters growth and respect

What We’re Looking For

Experience:

Proven experience as a Pasta Line Cook REQUIRED (2–3 years strongly preferred)
Experience working in an upscale-casual or fine-dining kitchen, particularly with Italian cuisine, wood-fired dishes, or pizza is a PLUS
Ability to work across various stations including grill, sauté, pizza oven, and prep
Familiarity with high-volume kitchen environments and the ability to execute dishes quickly and consistently

Skills & Qualities:

Strong knife skills and attention to detail
Ability to follow recipes, plating standards, and prep instructions precisely
A passion for high-quality food and a commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience
Ability to stay organized and maintain cleanliness in a busy kitchen
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper food handling procedures
Team-oriented, with a focus on collaboration and professionalism in the kitchen
