JOB OVERVIEW
As an Automation and Controls Specialist you will be responsible for all high-level automation related to PLC programming, troubleshooting, calibrating, and instrumentation systems used in processing operations to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and quality standards.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Works closely with operations personnel, engineering teams, and other maintenance staff – specifically Electricians and Mechanics. On occasion work with and support Capital and internal Projects, External Service Technicians, and Contractors.
HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Develop and maintain HMIs (LOS) Screens using appropriate tools (e.g. FactoryTalkview, WinView applications).
- PLC programming of Analog control includes PID Loop control for Temperature, Speed, Weight, Pressure and Flow.
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on instrumentation systems.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot sensors, transmitters, and control systems. Tank Scale calibrations include Heavy lifting of test weights to perform the calibration.
- Maintain documentation of maintenance activities and calibration records.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering to resolve instrumentation issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis.
- Maintain and repair automation and operational technology (OT) systems.
- Maintain inventory of instrumentation spare parts and tools.
- Support installation and commissioning of new instrumentation equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with PLCs, control loops, and automation systems. Process control expertise preferred.
- Experience with RS Logix 5, RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, CCP for Rockwell components.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Strong Interpersonal Teamwork and Communication Skills: Building strong working relationships with colleagues and supervisors is key to effective collaboration and communication.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to identify issues, think critically, and develop effective solutions is crucial for adapting to various tasks and ensuring smooth operations.
- Time Management: Efficiently managing time and prioritizing tasks helps ensure that all responsibilities are completed within the required timeframes.
- Flexibility: Being open to change and adaptable to new tasks and environments is essential for a role that involves supporting different departments.
- Conflict Resolution: The ability to handle conflicts and disagreements constructively is important for maintaining a positive work atmosphere.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks, from documentation to equipment setup, helps maintain high standards of quality and safety.
- Resilience: The ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, and to recover quickly from setbacks, is valuable in a dynamic work environment.

Salary Range: $44.56/hour
Salary pay ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, certifications, qualifications, relevant education or training, and local market conditions.
