Full Job Description

Job Summary

Dash Express is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR & Independent Contractor Relations Coordinator to support our growing workforce and transportation operations. This position serves as a key resource for employees, independent contractors, and leadership by fostering positive working relationships, ensuring effective communication, and maintaining regulatory compliance across all terminals. There will be travel required between our other terminals located in Duluth, MN and Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI.

The HR & Independent Contractor Relations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing recruitment, onboarding, personnel administration, contractor compliance, employee relations, and human resources processes that support daily operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and employment regulations while maintaining accurate employee and contractor records.

The ideal candidate has a logistics background, is highly organized, professional, and capable of balancing HR administration, compliance management, and workforce support, in a fast-paced logistics environment. This position requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to independently manage sensitive matters and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts for multiple Dash Express locations, including job postings, candidate sourcing, resume screening, interviewing, hiring recommendations, and applicant communication.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee and independent contractor relations, addressing concerns professionally and promoting a positive workplace culture.
Coordinate employee orientation, training and onboarding independent contractors.
Maintain employee and independent contractor files, ensuring all records remain accurate, current, and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Utilize talent acquisition strategies and workforce planning initiatives to attract and retain qualified employees and independent contractors.
Oversee independent contractor qualification and compliance processes, performance spot audits, feedback management, and record maintenance.
Assist with benefits administration, employee leave programs, workers' compensation claims, and FMLA compliance.
Advise supervisors and managers on HR policies, procedures, performance management, corrective actions, and employee relations best practices.
Monitor and ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and employment law requirements affecting company operations.
Assist with audits, reporting, compliance reviews, and regulatory documentation as required.
Support employee engagement, training, and development initiatives that promote workforce growth and retention.
Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive employee, contractor, and company information.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Human Resources, Recruiting, Employee Relations, Transportation Administration, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and transportation industry compliance standards.
Experience supporting employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace investigations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel; experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, and electronic recordkeeping systems.
Working knowledge of FMLA, workers' compensation, OSHA regulations, and employment law.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all organizational levels.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced logistics and transportation environment.

Travel Requirements: This position requires routine travel between Dash Express terminals in:

Duluth, Minnesota
Oak Creek (Milwaukee), Wisconsin

** A car allowance will be paid, to account for travel.
