Full Job Description

I. QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Responsibility: Has extensive contact primarily with St. Otto’s Care Center team members, job applicants, nursing assistant programs, nursing school representatives, residents, families, medical personal, interdisciplinary team members and other health care referral agencies requiring diplomacy, sensitivity, professionalism, and intervention in a proactive role. Maintains, always, confidentiality of all communication related to residents and staff. Performance of duties requires meticulous attention to recruiting, hiring, scheduling and follow through. Performance of duties requires cost-effective utilization of resources. Responsible for performing job in such a manner that creates trust, relationships and supportive of team members.

2. Mental Application: Demonstrates the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of the workday communicating with team members, applicants and school partners. Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve and make decisions concerning appropriate nursing department scheduling. Practice good interpersonal skills which allow for effective communication with a variety of contacts.

3. Worker Characteristics: Assume responsibility and accountability for actions taken independently and delegated by supervisors. Demonstrates initiative and good judgment in achieving delegated objectives.

4. Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a long-term care community, hospital, or other healthcare setting, preferred.

5. Education/Degree/Licensure: RN or college degree in human resources, business, marketing, or organizational leadership.

6. Relationships: Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members, applicants, residents, families, business partners and community.

7. Office Skills: Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.

8. Communication: Strong communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills.

9. Additional Skills: Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Consistent follow through, dependability, accountability, enthusiasm

II. DUTIES:

1. Responsible for knowing and demonstrating St. Otto’s Values while performing all job functions. Operationalizes values with team members, applicants, residents, visitors, and business partners.

2. Follow all safety procedures, policies and manufactures instruction applicable. Responsible for prevention (or proactive) of unsafe work situations. Participates in safety program. Is familiar with general and departmental safety requirements. Attends training and in-service opportunities.

3. Organizes and prioritizes areas of responsibility including recruitment of new team members, and retention of current team members.

4. Responsible for management of job openings and postings, evaluation of applicants and conducting interviews.

5. Responsible for management of job offers and onboarding of new team members in conjunction with Human Resources and Departmental Leaders.

6. Responsible for Master scheduling in Nursing Department.

7. Responsible for collaboration with non-nursing department managers on openings and scheduling to meet departmental staffing needs.

8. Management of St. Otto’s Care Center Nursing Degree Educational Program. Liaison to outside colleges, collaboration with coordination of application and entrance to affiliated colleges. Assistance with mentorship and support to college student team members with schedules, and courses throughout completion of program.

9. Oversight and involvement in St. Otto’s Team Member Retention efforts.

10. Provides a safe and orderly work area.

11. Communicates effectively with team members, applicants, residents, visitors, and business partners while maintaining a courteous professional manner.

12. Serves as a public relations person for the facility, conducts self in professional manner and maintains confidentiality.

13. Incorporates customer-oriented approach into daily routine.

14. Participates in control of cost-effective services that includes proper use of equipment, appropriate use of supplies, and effective, efficient organization of department.

15. Assumes responsibility for enhancing personal and professional development.

16. Responsible for maintaining appropriate attendance, hygiene according to departmental and position standards. Is punctual in arriving to work, meetings, and following other schedules. Always maintains confidentiality.

17. Work with operations teams on miscellaneous tasks relevant to the facility operations including state surveys, resident/family/employee satisfaction surveys, in service trainings, quality improvement initiatives (QAPI), and others as assigned.

18. Represent St. Otto’s to the area community, residents, and to the families; develop and maintain strong team member and community relations.

19. Assures overall Community operations are safe, effective, meet regulatory and corporate standards for operation, and provide an excellent level of customer satisfaction.

20. Monitors regulatory components to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

21. Prepare, submit, and interpret reports and statistical information as required.

22. Accountable for, but not limited to, recruitment, retention, resident/patient care, state and federal survey compliance, positive team member relations.

23. Maintain a culture of accountability, teamwork, trust, communication, enthusiasm, and collaboration.
