Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to assist in the management of Todd County’s technological infrastructure and maintenance of its components to ensure reliability, integrity, security and productivity of the information systems. Supporting users with hardware and software issues is a large portion of the position. This employee actively participates in the setup and installation of network, servers, desktop computers and all peripherals. This position works as part of a support team, reporting to the MIS Director, and works closely with all departments within the County.

Position Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical support for network access, wireless access, email, virtual private network (VPN), VOIP telephone, printers, scanners, a/v equipment, and other personal computer peripherals.

Provide technical support for county department software systems, anti virus, multi factor authentication, etc

Monitor and update ticketing software in a timely fashion and communicate with end user on status of ticket.

Assists in basic website maintenance.

Assists with monitoring, creating, running, documenting and testing data backups and restoring files

Provide onboarding training to new staff and continuing training for current staff.

Assist with keeping asset hardware and software inventory accurate and up to date

Setup, install, troubleshoot and configure pc’s, laptops, printers, scanners, a/v equipment, mobile and desk phones and other peripherals.

Understand and support county technology standards, policies and procedures including FTI and BCA compliance.
- Create, maintain and update operational and training documentation

Assist in maintenance of server and network infrastructure including patches and upgrades.

Monitoring and troubleshooting of servers and network infrastructure by checking logs, disk space, memory, etc from MIS monitoring solution

Ensuring updates, patches and vulnerabilities for all hardware and software are updated in a timely manner

Onboarding and offboarding of staff by creating/disabling user accounts in Active Directory, email, door access and following MIS checklists.
- Follow standard MIS operating procedures

Monitor virtual environment

Keep up to date with cyber security trends and information, disaster recovery and incident response plans.
- Install low voltage cable as needed for network connectivity, under the supervision of licensed PLT

May require work outside of normal business hours and occasional on-call

Minimum Education and Experience/Special Requirements
-
Associates/Technical degree in Information Technology, or related field and moderate experience working in a technology support role, working in the public sector, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Must pass BCA fingerprint and criminal background check.
- Pass the FBI Criminal Justice Information System Security and Awareness Training, upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in virtual environments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Knowledge of network topologies, products and protocols; experience with IP and its configuration. Knowledge of server and desktop operating systems including virtual environments. Strong working knowledge of office suite software, willingness to be trained in systems specific to county. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills are vital. Value is added with experience and comfort working with people in stressful situations.
- Ability to produce reports on system usage, ability to query data on a variety of databases as requested.

Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculate percentages, fractions, and decimals.

Ability to perform mathematical operations involving algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis.

Physical Requirements
