ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure personal care of the residents of the Community Living Arrangement is
completed in a compassionate, caring manner. This involves showers, toileting
needs, feeding, laundry, cleaning, etc., as necessary according to the resident's
skill level.
2. Provide instruction to all residents while working toward achieving individual
program goals.
3. Formulate plans and give direction to the residents and other volunteer workers.
4. Plan and implement a training program which will lead the individual residents
toward a fully integrated life (Normalization).
5. Work with Adult Habilitation, WAC and other components to provide integrated
services to residents.
6. Complete case notes and progress reports as required on each resident to meet
monthly and quarterly requirements.
7. Presents a positive relationship with clients at all times. Handles difficult situations
with care and respect.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of experience recommended. A working knowledge of ICF/MR regulations preferred. A Community Living Aide must also have the experience to work cooperatively and effectively with other professional groups and to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment when dealing with all people.
Licensure/Certifications:
Must have a valid Arkansas Driver’s License or be in the process of switching out of state license
(30 days to complete process). Must complete DDS Driver’s Training at Arkansas Transit within first 90 days of employment.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and understand ICF/MR regulations, basic medical information and forms, written directions and training plans. Knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, and practices of providing direct care to disabled individuals is essential. A knowledge of the functions of group living and community resources is helpful.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use the hands to perform housekeeping tasks, assist disabled individuals with personal hygiene functions, and other daily tasks. The employee frequently must walk, talk, hear, and reach with the hands and arms. Occasionally the employee must crouch or kneel.
The employee must occasionally lift or move adults from wheelchairs to beds, showers, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. A Health Certificate must be obtained annually.
