The Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology Nurse Navigator will provide compassionate and skilled oncology expertise spanning the entire cancer care continuum; including diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end of life care. The RN will provide assistance to patients, families and care givers to help overcome healthcare system barriers and facilitate timely access to quality health and psychosocial care. The specialty RN should have a deep understanding of clinical oncology practices, cutting edge therapies, and diagnostic innovations, combined with a patient centered approach to care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in nursing, Diploma RN, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Nursing plus 3 years Registered Nurse experience.
- Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program.
- Valid Registered Nursing License
- Basic skills with Microsoft programs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong work ethics and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant Registered Nursing experience in Oncology or
- Minimum of 5 years in patient navigation/coordination
- Current BLS
- National Certification – AONN or OCN or Oncology related certification

Job Responsibilities:
- Performs Role of Transplant and Cellular Therapy Clinical Program Specialist
- Evaluates the needs and coordinates the care of the patient through the continuum of care by ensuring patient needs are met.
- Facilitate patient care coordination with interdisciplinary teams within internal departments and external service lines. Exhibiting professionalism and accuracy in interfacing with teams involved in the plans of care.
- Provide education to patients and caregivers, supporting compliance with appointments and treatments.
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary tumor board.
- Work closely with external services to ensure seamless coordination of outpatient care, including chemotherapy, infusion therapy, radiation, and other treatments.
- Facilitates the use of telehealth and/or self-monitoring technology to enhance the plan of care and patient engagement.
- Assesses education needs and seeks to update knowledge base to provide quality and current patient specific specialty service line coordination.
- Assist in coordinating agenda and attend relevant Tumor Board, 80% or greater participation
- Participates in quality data collection and organization.
- Collaborates with the navigation team and leadership to optimize processes and metrics.
- Promotes a safe working environment by complying with department and institutional safety policies. Observes safe work practices and provides input on safety issues. Responds in emergency situations. Intervenes in unsafe situations by taking action.
- Adheres to UAMS Code of conduct and Department policies. Adopts practices to improve work process, enhance guest satisfaction and reduce waste. Serves as resource person to support department members in performances of duties
- Interacts with, and assists, the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
- Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.

In this role you will support patients with new, recurrent, or metastatic cancer diagnosis, ensuring seamless coordination of care amongst our oncology departments, including but not limited to medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, genetics, and palliative care.
