Lax, Vaughan, Fortson, Rowe & Threet, P.A. is a law firm in Little Rock, Arkansas seeking to hire both a paralegal and a legal assistant to join us working in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, taxation, and business and commercial transactions. Paralegal

Essential Job Duties:

Draft estate planning documents, such as trusts, wills, and powers of attorney.
Draft probate documents and pleadings; monitor probate administration.
Assist with preparing entity formation and transactional documents.
Assist with estate planning signings, closings, interoffice and client meetings.
Prepare, review, and electronically file court documents within Arkansas state court systems.
Proactively manage calendars, deadlines, and ongoing projects, ensuring effective prioritization, timely follow-up, and efficient scheduling of appointments and meetings.
Communicate with clients by telephone, mail, and email.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client and firm information.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant paralegal experience in a law firm setting.
Prior experience with estate planning and probate.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent grammar and proofreading abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while partnering effectively with attorneys and staff to support client matters.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource software (Estate and Gift Tax).
Experience with Juris time and billing software.

Legal Assistant

Essential Job Duties:

Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff.
Manage the collection, verification, and communication of new client information and assist with preliminary conflict checks to ensure timely matter onboarding.
Accurately enter billable time records into the firm’s timekeeping software.
Assist in managing incoming telephone calls and provide support on client matters through professional phone and email correspondence, as appropriate.
Prepare, proofread, and transmit legal correspondence and documents.
Maintain and review attorney calendars daily and coordinate appointments.
Prepare meeting materials and coordinate meeting logistics.
Organize and maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
Assist with estate planning signings, closings, and client meetings.
Assist with and maintain attorney continuing legal education records.
Assist with filing legal documents with courts and governmental agencies.
Maintain confidentiality of client and firm information.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in a law firm or legal office environment.
Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Familiarity with electronic court filings.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong work ethic and commitment to client service.

Preferred Skills:

Prior experience with estate planning and probate.
Experience with Juris time and billing software.
