Full Job Description

General Purpose:

For more than 100 years, Easterseals Colorado, a non-profit, has served as an indispensable resource for individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, and their families.

Overview of position:

Under general supervision, the Behavioral Interventionist provides behavioral intervention services to individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or related disabilities through planned interventions, including discrete trial training, antecedent and consequence modifications, and reinforcement strategies.

Essential Functions:

Provides specialized behavior intervention services in natural environments such as the home or community.

· Models behavior intervention strategies for caregivers under the direction of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Attends staff meetings, treatment planning sessions, and trainings as required.
Completes documentation including data collection, skill assessments, treatment notes, progress reports, and exit summaries.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date records related to the program, site, and individual participants.

Education Requirements: Candidates must meet one of the following:

· Currently enrolled in college coursework with a minimum of 6 months of full-time credit; preference for coursework in psychology, education, child development, or related fields.

· Associate’s degree or two years of completed college-level coursework; preference for related fields.

· Bachelor’s degree (completed), preference for majors in psychology, education, child development, or related areas.

· Must possess and maintain current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) status or be willing and able to obtain within 3 months of employment.

Experience Requirements:· Bachelor's degree holders: Minimum one year of relevant experience. · Associate degree holders or candidates without a bachelor's degree: One to two years of experience supporting children with ASD or developmental disabilities. · Preferred: Experience working or volunteering with individuals diagnosed with ASD or other disabilities, or experience working with children in educational, recreational, or therapeutic settings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Familiarity with evidence-based strategies from Applied Behavior Analysis, including discrete trial and naturalistic teaching methods, reinforcement techniques, and crisis response procedures.

Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Outlook, Skype) and quick to adapt to digital platforms like iPads and other mobile devices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and a customer service–oriented attitude.
Enjoys working with children and families, and brings a positive, respectful presence to every interaction.
Able to interpret and apply organizational policies, procedures, and regulations effectively.
Uses sound judgment, maintains discretion, and respects confidentiality when managing sensitive matters.
Meets health and safety requirements, including physical exams, TB testing, and vaccinations (or provides proper documentation or exemptions).
Satisfies all background screening requirements as mandated by relevant state and federal authorities.
Possesses a valid driver’s license and insurance and can travel locally as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Expectations:

This role involves a mixture of active and seated work throughout the day. Here is what to expect:

· You will occasionally lift and carry up to 30 pounds—this could include assisting with materials or engaging in active play.

· Expect to spend parts of your day sitting (especially during documentation) and other times standing or walking, depending on the setting and activities.

· Some local travel may be required, up to 30% of the time.

· You will frequently use a tablet, computer, and phone, so comfort with screen time and keyboard activity is important.

· Close visual focus is needed for working with digital devices and reading documents.

· You may be in environments where noise, mess, or exposure to bodily fluids are part of the experience—but you are never without support and preparation.
