Full Job Description

Certified Medical Assistant – ENT Allergy Department

Integrated Ear, Nose & Throat is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to join our growing ENT Allergy Department. POSITION SUMMARY:

Our practice is committed to providing the highest standard of medical care in a personal, caring, and professional environment. As a Certified Medical Assistant in our Allergy Department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care while supporting our physicians and allergy providers. This position is responsible for assisting with allergy testing, immunotherapy (allergy injections), patient education, medication administration, clinical documentation, and coordinating patient care. Success in this role requires excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to multitask in a high-volume specialty practice.

SKILLS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Prepare patients for allergy evaluations by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and documenting information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Perform allergy skin prick and intradermal testing under provider supervision and according to established protocols.
Prepare and administer allergy immunotherapy injections following physician orders and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
Educate patients regarding allergy treatment plans, immunotherapy schedules, environmental controls, and medication instructions.
Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and allergy-related treatments.
Triage patient phone calls and portal messages, providing appropriate follow-up and communicating with providers as needed.
Coordinate prescription refills, prior authorizations, pharmacy communications, and referrals.
Coordinate and obtain insurance prior authorizations for biologic medications, including gathering clinical documentation, submitting requests, monitoring approvals, and coordinating treatment with providers, specialty pharmacies, and patients.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.
Maintain appropriate inventory of allergy supplies and medications.
Demonstrate strong computer proficiency and accurate EMR documentation.
Exhibit excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Collaborate with providers and team members to ensure efficient patient flow and an exceptional patient experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Lifting requirements: 20–40 pounds
Frequency of lifting: Up to 20% of the workday
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and assisting patients throughout the day.
Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to patient needs, including monitoring for allergic reactions following immunotherapy.

JOB TYPE:

Full-Time Certified Medical Assistant (40 hours per week)
Schedule consists of both 8-hour and 10-hour shifts
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent nationally recognized certification required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or obtained within the required timeframe.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience preferred.
Previous experience in ENT, allergy, immunology, pulmonology, family medicine, or primary care is preferred.
Experience with allergy testing, immunotherapy, biologic medication coordination, insurance prior authorizations, and electronic medical records is strongly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and patient service skills are required.
