We're looking for a Multimedia Journalist who wants to immerse themselves in the community, chase meaningful stories, and bring them to life across multiple platforms. From breaking news and in-depth features to live reporting from the field, you'll be at the center of the stories that matter most to our viewers. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Develop story ideas by researching news leads, tips, and emerging community issues.
- Gather and verify information through interviews, observation, and in-depth research.
- Write compelling, accurate stories that meet broadcast and digital editorial standards.
- Shoot engaging video and capture still photography to support storytelling across platforms.
- Edit video content for on-air broadcasts, digital channels, and social media.
- Deliver live reports from the scene of breaking news, community events, and enterprise stories.
- Appear on-air for interviews, stand-ups, and story narration.
- Collaborate closely with photographers, producers, and digital teams to create impactful coverage.
- Assist in preparing daily newscasts and multimedia content plans.
- Consistently produce content that informs, connects, and serves the communities of western Montana.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Three or more years of experience in television news, multimedia journalism, or a related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and the ability to provide proof of insurance meeting company requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the viewing area to cover stories and community events.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Strong broadcast writing skills and knowledge of AP Style.
- Experience with videography and non-linear editing systems.
- Working knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment.
- Experience editing on Final Cut Pro or similar editing platforms.
- Proficiency with newsroom computer systems and digital publishing tools.
- Ability to post and optimize content for websites and digital platforms.
- A self-starter mindset with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Sound news judgment and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and passion for community-focused storytelling.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment when needed.
