Position Overview
Behavioral & Neuropsychological Consultants is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented psychometrician, TLLP, or LLP to assist with psychological and neuropsychological evaluations in an outpatient clinical practice.
This is not an entry-level administrative position and is not appropriate for applicants whose experience is limited to providing psychotherapy. The selected candidate must have formal graduate-level psychology training and either prior experience administering standardized psychological or neuropsychological tests or a strong, demonstrable foundation in assessment.
The position will begin part-time and may develop into full-time employment as the clinician’s testing and clinical caseload increases. Expansion of hours will be based on demonstrated competence, reliability, accuracy, efficiency, professional judgment, and ability to manage assigned responsibilities with increasing independence.
We are seeking someone who can begin as soon as possible, ideally within two weeks.
Acceptable Credentials
Applicants may be:
- A Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP)
- A Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP)
- A master’s- or doctoral-level psychology graduate with appropriate assessment training
- An experienced psychometrician with a relevant psychology, neuroscience, or behavioral-science background
Applicants must be legally eligible to work within the scope of their education, training, and Michigan licensure status. Clinical work will be performed under the supervision of a fully licensed doctoral-level clinical psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist.
Primary Responsibilities
The clinician will:
- Administer psychological and neuropsychological tests exactly according to standardized procedures.
- Accurately score testing instruments using test manuals, computerized scoring systems, and established practice procedures.
- Prepare complete testing records for the supervising neuropsychologist, including behavioral observations, score summaries, response patterns, and any deviations from standardized administration.
- Document meaningful observations regarding effort, attention, frustration tolerance, comprehension, impulsivity, fatigue, pain behavior, emotional presentation, and test-taking approach.
- Review the patient’s referral question, testing plan, and relevant clinical information before each appointment.
- Prepare all testing materials and the testing environment before the patient arrives.
- Maintain test security, patient confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and ethical handling of protected assessment materials.
- Maintain accurate test inventories, patient records, scoring files, protocols, and administrative documentation.
- Complete scoring and assigned documentation promptly and within established deadlines.
- Communicate professionally with patients, caregivers, office staff, and the supervising psychologist.
- Participate in supervision, training, competency review, and corrective feedback.
- For qualified TLLP or LLP applicants, the position may also include clinical interviewing, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and related clinical services within the individual’s authorized scope of practice and demonstrated competency.

Applicants are not required to know every instrument listed. However, they must accurately describe their actual experience. Familiarity with several core cognitive, memory, attention, validity, and personality measures is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
The successful applicant must demonstrate:
- Graduate-level education in clinical psychology or a closely related assessment-focused discipline
- Current TLLP or LLP status, or education and experience appropriate for psychometric work
- Knowledge of standardized administration and scoring principles
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to test security
- Ability to follow manuals, protocols, supervision, and written procedures exactly
- Strong written communication and behavioral-observation skills
- Professionalism with patients experiencing neurological injuries, chronic pain, trauma, emotional disorders, cognitive limitations, and functional impairment
- Dependability, punctuality, organization, and timely completion of work
- Ability to accept direct feedback and correct errors promptly
- Comfort working independently after competency has been demonstrated
- Reliable transportation and consistent availability for in-person work in Troy
Strongly Preferred
Preference will be given to applicants who have:
- Prior neuropsychological or psychological-testing experience
- Experience with the WAIS-IV, WMS-IV, CVLT-II, TOVA, TOMM, VSVT, PAI, MMPI, TSI-2, or related instruments
- Experience working with adults with traumatic brain injury, neurological disorders, chronic pain, trauma, or complex psychiatric presentations
- Experience writing detailed behavioral observations and organizing testing data
- Previous practicum, internship, research, or employment experience involving standardized assessment
- A clear interest in clinical neuropsychology, rehabilitation psychology, or psychological assessment
Performance Expectations
Continued employment and growth of the position will depend on the clinician’s ability to:

- Complete documentation and scoring by assigned deadlines

- Manage an increasing caseload without sacrificing accuracy or patient care
Schedule and Growth
The position will begin on a part-time basis Mondays and Tuesdays with one additional scoring day. Hours and responsibilities may increase as referrals and the clinician’s assigned caseload develop.
The opportunity to transition toward full-time employment is not automatic or guaranteed. It will depend on caseload availability and the clinician’s demonstrated performance, reliability, competency, efficiency, and ability to independently manage testing and clinical responsibilities.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on the applicant’s education, licensure status, relevant assessment experience, demonstrated competency, and amount of training required.
