This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a strong housekeeping team, inspecting guest rooms and public areas, managing labor and supplies, coordinating closely with the Front Desk and Maintenance departments, and ensuring that every room released for sale meets the hotel's standards.
Primary Responsibilities Housekeeping Department Leadership
- Direct and oversee the daily operation of the Housekeeping Department.
- Lead, train, coach, and develop Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants, Housepersons, and other housekeeping team members.

- Maintain clear expectations for cleanliness, productivity, attendance, appearance, and guest service.
- Provide ongoing coaching and retraining when standards are not being met.
- Recognize strong performance and help create a positive, accountable working environment.
- Address employee performance and attendance concerns in accordance with hotel policies.
- Assist management with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new Housekeeping employees.
- Ensure new team members receive proper training before being expected to work independently.

- Inspect guestrooms daily to ensure rooms meet hotel and brand cleanliness standards before being released for occupancy.
- Verify proper cleaning, sanitization, room setup, linen presentation, amenities, and overall condition.
- Identify deficiencies and ensure they are corrected promptly.
- Maintain consistent standards across all Room Attendants and shifts.
- Conduct follow-up inspections and coaching when recurring cleanliness concerns are identified.
- Monitor guest feedback and cleanliness scores to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Work with the Front Desk to prioritize early arrivals, VIP rooms, special requests, and rooms needed for arriving guests.
- Ensure out-of-order or maintenance-related room concerns are properly communicated and followed through to completion.
Daily Operations & Room Status
- Review hotel occupancy, arrivals, departures, stayovers, and forecast information to plan daily staffing and workloads.
- Coordinate closely with the Front Desk throughout the day to maintain accurate room status.
- Monitor room completion and ensure guestrooms are cleaned and inspected in a timely manner.
- Communicate delays or operational challenges before they negatively impact guest check-in.
- Ensure proper handling of Do Not Disturb rooms, declined housekeeping service, extended-stay rooms, and special guest requests.
- Maintain accurate records of room assignments, inspections, discrepancies, and completed work.
- Resolve room-status discrepancies between Housekeeping and the Property Management System.
- Assist with guest rooms, laundry, public areas, or other operational duties when business levels or staffing require additional support.
Laundry, Linen & Inventory Management
- Oversee hotel laundry operations and ensure adequate linen levels are maintained.
- Monitor linen quality and remove damaged or excessively worn items from circulation.

- Monitor linen loss and implement procedures to minimize unnecessary replacement costs.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, amenities, and housekeeping equipment.

- Conduct regular property walks throughout the day.
- Assign and follow up on public-area cleaning responsibilities.
- Identify cleanliness or maintenance concerns throughout the property and ensure they are addressed.
- Maintain housekeeping storage areas, linen rooms, laundry areas, and employee workspaces in a clean and organized condition.

- Responding promptly to housekeeping-related requests and concerns.
- Resolving cleanliness complaints quickly and professionally.
- Following up when appropriate to ensure guest concerns have been addressed.

- Maintain department procedures and documentation necessary to support brand compliance.
- Review cleanliness-related guest feedback and performance metrics with hotel leadership.

Availability may include:

- Consistently clean and guest-ready rooms.
- Strong inspection results.
