Job Overview

Job Summary

Rucoba & Maya Construction, LLC is a Texas-based civil contractor specializing in roadway construction, flatwork, and storm drainage for TXDOT and municipal clients across Central Texas. As a certified DBE/HUB firm, we bring a strong commitment to quality, compliance, and community to every project.

Reporting directly to the CEO/CFO, the Estimator will provide accurate proposals and bids for a variety of construction projects, from initial conception through to final bids. The Estimator will play a crucial role in helping the company secure new projects while maintaining profitability and competitiveness in the market.

The responsibility of the Estimator involves analyzing project plans and specifications to determine the overall estimated costs, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. He/She must work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to gather all necessary information that impacts the project cost and timeline. The role demands preventive action in identifying potential financial risks and providing solutions or alternatives that align with the strategic goals of the company.

He/ She must exemplify and uphold the purpose, vision, core values, and leadership standards of R&M Construction, playing a pivotal role in consistently applying and advocating these principles across the organization and in daily interactions with others.

Responsibilities

Study market trends, demands, and growth areas in the construction industry.
Gather and analyze data on competitors' projects, pricing, and strategies and work with management to refine business strategies based on market and competitor analysis.
Attend seminars, workshops for networking and learning more about industry developments.
Use analytical tools for processing market data and generating insights for decision-making.
Communicate regularly with suppliers, partners and clients to understand requirements, market needs and opportunities. · Collect detailed project requirements from clients, architects, and engineers to include in the cost estimation.

Visit project sites to check conditions, collect data, and identify any challenges that might affect the cost and timeline.
Talk to suppliers and subcontractors to get accurate and competitive prices for materials, labor, and other services needed for the project.
Use advanced software to accurately calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and overhead, making sure all expenses are included.
Create detailed project proposals that include costs, timelines, methods, and rules to ensure everything is clear and transparent.
Regularly review cost estimates and project plans/proposals with senior management and make changes based on their feedback, and ensure they align with company goals and budget.
Work with the CEO and Finance Team to make sure project plans fit the budget and financial goals.
Present proposals to decision-makers, address their concerns, and make changes to get optimize probabilities of winning contracts.

Experience

Typically, 3-5 years of experience in construction estimation or a closely related field is preferred.
Ability to perform detailed cost analysis and risk assessment for bidding strategies.
Understanding of construction processes, materials, and the legal requirements involved in construction projects.
Proficient in communicating complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to identify and resolve issues throughout the bidding and project estimation processes.
Exceptional organizational abilities to handle multiple projects/proposals simultaneously.
Flexibility to adapt to new challenges and changes in project scopes or specifications.
Experience in managing the estimation/bid, heavy job, onscreen takeoff and similar software’s.
High level of professional integrity and transparency, particularly in handling confidential or sensitive project information.

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is advisable.
Optional certifications like the Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar credentials can be advantageous.
