Build the Systems Behind California’s Most Iconic Structures
Our client is a leading structural steel fabricator and erector with a lasting imprint on the skylines of California and Nevada. Their portfolio includes hospitals, medical campuses, airports, data centers, stadiums, casinos, convention centers, and landmark commercial towers.
While our client is not a software company, technology is mission-critical to the fabrication and erection of complex steel superstructures at scale. Their in-house Application Development team builds and maintains the custom platforms that power estimating, project management, fabrication, logistics, and field operations.
We are seeking a Senior Application Developer to lead a team of three developers and drive the next phase of the internal application ecosystem.

You will operate at the intersection of technology and operations—partnering directly with management, project managers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver software solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity across the organization.
You will serve as the technical lead for a small, agile team, owning architecture decisions, development standards, and modernization strategy—while remaining hands-on in full-stack development environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship to a small team of software developers
- Establish development standards, documentation practices, and coding guidelines
- Participate in architectural planning and long-term system strategy
- Help guide modernization initiatives across existing business applications
Application Design & Development

- Build and support Windows-based applications and service integrations
- Develop and maintain REST-based integrations between systems
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle including design, testing, and deployment
Business Systems Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams to translate operational requirements into technical solutions
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows through automation and system enhancements
- Support integrations with third-party business platforms
- Assist in maintaining database structures and optimizing performance

- Leadership Without Bureaucracy: Lead a focused team with real autonomy and decision-making authority.
- Long-Term Platform Ownership: Influence the modernization roadmap of mission-critical internal systems.
- Stable Industry, Forward-Thinking Technology: Apply modern development practices within a high-performance construction environment.

- Wants to move beyond feature delivery into architectural ownership.
