Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Behavioral Health Billing Specialist to assist our revenue cycle operations. In this role, you will be the bridge between our clinicians and payers, ensuring behavioral health services are coded accurately and reimbursed promptly. You will navigate the complexities of Ohio Medicaid, Medicaid MCOs, and commercial insurance.

Key Responsibilities

Ohio Medicaid and MCOs Expertise: Manage billing through the Ohio PNM and other MCO payer portals and stay current with Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) behavioral health manuals.
Denial Management: Proactively investigate, appeal, and resolve denied or underpaid claims; maintain a low denial rate.
Prior Authorization: Prepare, Document and Submit Prior Authorizations to Ohio Medicaid Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and the 42 CFR Part 2 rules regarding record confidentiality.
Specialization Area: Appeals, Disputes, Recovery, and Prior Authorization

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience specifically in behavioral health or mental health billing strongly preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with EHR systems, billing clearinghouses, payer portals and Microsoft Excel.
Coding Knowledge: Mastery of CPT (90834, 90837, etc.), HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM (F-codes) specific to mental health.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Ohio’s Medicaid and MCO (Managed Care Organization) requirements.
