Job Title: Laser Operator / Fabricator
Schedule required: Monday - Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm
Department: Fabrication
Reports to: Department lead
Salary: $18 - $25 per hour Depending on experience and certification
Job Summary
The Laser Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of laser cutting equipment as well as associated machinery, including rollers, brake presses, and polishers. This position plays a key role in supporting fabrication and welding operations, ensuring precision, quality, and efficiency in all assigned tasks.
What you’ll do
- Set up, program, and operate the laser cutting machine and other fabrication equipment (rollers, brake presses, and machine polishers).
- Read, interpret, and verify blueprints, drawings, and job travelers to ensure production accuracy.
- Create and modify programs using Mastercam software; stay current with software updates and best practices for laser machining.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Drafters, the Shop Foreman, and Team Leads to coordinate workflow and ensure project success.
- Monitor machine processes and performance to ensure quality output and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels for assigned materials and report shortages as needed.
- Follow direction from supervisors and management to support production goals and deadlines.
- Perform regular cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of machines and work areas to ensure safety and reliability.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of machining or fabrication experience required.
- Proficiency in Mastercam with at least 1 year of programming experience.
- Completion of a machining or manufacturing technology program from an accredited trade school preferred.
- Experience with 2D/3D modeling and familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software is a plus.
