Part-Time Legal Assistant — Path to Full-Time

Hours: Initially 13–17 hours per week

About the Position

Martin Law Firm, P.C. is seeking two dependable and motivated legal assistants to join our North Logan office. No prior legal experience is required—we will provide training.

The position will begin part time, at approximately 13–17 hours per week, and is designed to develop into a full-time position. With training and experience, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to advance into a paralegal or law firm administration role.

This opportunity is especially well suited for a college senior who would like to work part time during their final year of school and transition to full-time employment after graduation. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply and may be able to transition to full-time employment more quickly.

The starting wage will be $18 per hour during the fall semester. For candidates who demonstrate steady learning and growth, we anticipate increasing compensation to approximately $20 per hour during the winter semester. Upon graduation and transition to full-time employment, an additional raise is anticipated. We expect to provide further raises every few months as the employee continues to develop their skills and take on additional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

Preparing, formatting, and organizing legal documents
Maintaining electronic and paper files
Managing calendars, deadlines, and appointments
Communicating professionally with clients, attorneys, and others
Assisting attorneys and staff with administrative and legal tasks
Learning and using the firm’s legal software and systems
Handling confidential information with care and discretion
Providing general administrative support as needed

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who:

Demonstrate strong attention to detail
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Are dependable, organized, and eager to learn
Are comfortable using computers and learning new software
Can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Are available to work in person at our North Logan office
Are willing to commit to working with the firm for at least three years, including at least two years after graduation

Prior legal experience is not required. We are looking for someone who wants to learn, grow with the firm, and develop the skills necessary to become an excellent paralegal or law firm administrator.

This position may be particularly valuable for a pre-law student who wants to spend two years after graduation gaining meaningful experience alongside an accomplished team of attorneys before attending law school. It is also an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a long-term career as a paralegal or in law firm administration.
