Medical Assistant
Dale Ekstrum, M.D., Personalized Medical Care is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a concierge model Family Practice medical office in Lompoc, CA. This medical assistant position will assist a family practice physician with more than 30 years of experience doing a wide variety of medicine including various medical procedures, sports medicine, and aesthetic medicine.
Part-time or full-time applicants both will be considered. Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities:

● Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
● Cross training with reception staff in scheduling, changing and confirming appointments.
● Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
● Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
● Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature and reporting patient history summary.
● Saves doctor's time by helping with office procedures. These include, but are not limited to: performing EKG’s, finger-stick tests (blood glucose and hemoglobin), performing urinalysis and preparing slides, preparing blood for transport for tests, setting up trays for procedures (such as joint injections and aspirations), entering data into and preparing
POC ultrasound, rapid viral testing in office, applying various bandages and dressings, maintaining and cleaning devices and equipment, reviewing inventory for expiration date(s), maintaining medications (sample and office administered), ordering inventory of and administering vaccines, obtaining authorization for and scheduling out-of-office testing, imaging and referrals.
● Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
● Counsels patients by transmitting physician’s orders.
● Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
● Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
● Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
● Communicating with and informing patients of test results and following up with patients regarding diagnostic results. Refills authorization and communicating with pharmacy.

● Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
● Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
● Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Both Part-time and Full-time applicants will be considered. At least 4 years of M.A. experience preferred. General office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, but M.A. position days and hours worked can be flexible.

Benefits and pay depend on years of experience and number of days and hours worked per week.
