The Quality Control Lab Technician position is in Lompoc, CA. This is a full-time assignment lasting around 6 months to a year. Applicants must be available for days, evenings, and weekends as shifts will vary. The rate of pay is between $23 and $28/hr (DOE).

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up lab equipment and instruments required for classification tests.
- Test and analyze; crude ore, process samples, natural products and finished products to determine purity, chemical content, and other characteristics.
- Test and analyze materials and substances such as minerals, soil, water, and pollutants.
- Document test results in computer database, Excel spreadsheets, and logbooks.
- Communicate test results to appropriate parties through written, verbal, and electronic channels.
- Dispositions product according to specifications and market demand requirements.
- Prepare chemical solutions in a safe and accurate manner.
- Perform daily work using a PC.
- Picking up samples.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
To be considered for this position the applicant must complete a QC Lab entry exam. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform 75% of all essential duties satisfactorily within 12 months of starting the position, and 95% of essential duties satisfactorily within 24 months of starting the position.
Education:
Associates Degree in a STEM-related field
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as: SDS, SOP, safety rules, test methods, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Basic Algebra; Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Must be able to: calculate dilution factors and convert between units of measure.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must know when calibration values are out and to do trouble shooting on analytical instruments. An example of this would be the XRD, XRF, ICP, or any other piece of equipment or instrument normally used by the Quality Control Technicians. Must be able to perform troubleshooting and minor maintenance on analytical instruments. Must be fully aware of product specifications and bag to product combinations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to operate automobiles and other mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
