Full Job Description

Accounting and Tax Associate - Centennial, CO (in-office)

Salary range: $65,000-80,000, based on experience

Benefits: This position may be eligible for health, dental, vision, insurance, and 401(K)

We are seeking a proactive Accounting and Tax Associate to join our public accounting firm. This role combines tax preparation, financial review, and client relationship management, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients in a fast-paced professional services environment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review corporate and individual tax workpapers and supporting documentation
Prepare sales tax returns and assist with federal, state, and local tax compliance
Respond to IRS and state tax notices by researching issues and preparing resolutions
Research accounting and tax issues and recommend practical, client-focused solutions
Perform year-end financial reviews, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and expense analysis
Complete bank reconciliations and depreciation schedules
Manage a portfolio of clients, building strong relationships and providing exceptional service
Respond promptly and professionally to client questions and requests
Support firm leadership with special projects, client needs, and high-priority initiatives
Balance multiple deadlines while adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced public accounting environment
Collaborate with colleagues and firm leadership across a variety of client engagements

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
Experience with QuickBooks and strong comfortability with Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formula creation) required
CPA, or plans to obtain certification preferred
Prior experience in public accounting or client-facing tax/accounting work preferred
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously
