Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Utilization Review Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this vital entry-level role, you will help assist our Utilization Review Specialist in obtaining authorizations for patients that are being treated for substance abuse and mental health. Your role will support clinical teams by coordinating with managed care organizations, and maintaining accurate documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care while navigating complex healthcare policies and coding standards.

Responsibilities

Process patient admissions and discharges by transferring and verifying data between KIPU and the CRM system
Follow up on active UR cases to track authorization status, deadlines, and outstanding documentation
Support UR Specialists with administrative tasks, freeing them to focus on clinical case review and decision-making
Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records across all relevant systems Sort, organize, and distribute facility mail
Assist with other administrative duties as needed to support the UR department's workflow.

Skills

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Works with a sense of duty – values strong attention to detail.
Works with a sense of urgency and prioritizes time-sensitive deadlines.
Some knowledge of managed care processes and utilization management principles (preferred).
Some knowledge in EMR/EHR systems such as Kipu; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential (preferred).
Strong understanding of medical coding including CPT codes, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems; experience with DRG assignment is preferred.
Knowledge of Medicare regulations, long-term care regulations, CMS policies, and health regulation policies.
Excellent documentation skills
Excellent customer service skills
Strong communication skills for collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy standards.
