Pay: $24.00–$30.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

We are a high-volume, high-end custom framing business and fine art gallery seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Picture Framer & Workshop Manager to lead our production workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional who takes pride in craftsmanship, has exceptional attention to detail, and is confident managing every stage of the framing process from consultation to completion.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of hands-on custom framing experience and be comfortable working independently while overseeing the daily operations of a busy framing department.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all day-to-day operations of the framing workshop.
- Coordinate and track framing orders from intake through final completion and delivery.
- Handle, mount, and frame valuable and high-end artwork with the utmost care and professionalism.
- Work with original artwork of all mediums and substrates, including:
Paintings on canvas
Works on paper
Limited editions and fine art prints
Photography
Textiles
- Memorabilia and collectibles
- Three-dimensional objects and shadowboxes
- Perform archival and conservation-quality mounting techniques.
- Measure, cut, and assemble custom frames to exact specifications.
- Operate framing equipment safely and efficiently, including mat cutters, underpinners, saws, glass cutters, and fitting equipment.
- Stretch canvas and prepare artwork for framing.
- Fit and finish completed projects to gallery-quality standards.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient production environment.
- Manage workflow, prioritize deadlines, and ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Train, supervise, and assist workshop staff as needed.
- Communicate with clients, designers, artists, and gallery personnel regarding project requirements.
- Assist with installation preparation and packaging of completed work.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional, hands-on custom framing experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of conservation and museum-quality framing practices.
- Demonstrated experience handling valuable original artwork.
- Strong understanding of various mounting methods and archival materials.
- Experience working with all types of glazing, including museum and conservation glass.
- Ability to read work orders and execute projects with precision and consistency.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Leadership experience managing a workshop or supervising staff is highly preferred.
- Ability to lift and move framed artwork and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and pride in producing exceptional work.
