SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Job Summary:
LTC Rental Sales is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team.
LTC Rental Sales is a specialized equipment supplier providing trucks, trailers, and additional support equipment to large scale projects across the United States. With the best rental equipment and support in the industry LTC Rental Sales strives to continue growth while maintaining the best customer experience in the industry.
The Senior Accountant helps drive LTC Rental Sales’ general ledger and month-end close, working closely with the Controller and CFO to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting across our rental, sales, service, and parts operations. The role has a heavy focus on fixed asset accounting for our rental fleet, and partners with our AR and AP clerks to keep the books clean throughout the month. Most of the work is technical accounting — journal entries, reconciliations, fixed asset activity, and close-cycle deliverables — and the right candidate is comfortable owning their own workpapers, hitting deadlines independently, and improving processes as they go.
Essential Functions:
· Drive month-end close: Drive the monthly close process on schedule under the direction of the Controller. Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries, maintain the close checklist, and ensure all sub-ledgers are reconciled to the general ledger.
· Assist with financial statements: Assist in preparing the monthly income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement for Controller and CFO review, including variance commentary against prior period and budget.
· Reconcile balance sheet accounts: Perform and document monthly reconciliations of cash, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
· Manage fixed asset accounting: Maintain the fixed asset ledger for the rental fleet and other capital assets — additions, transfers, dispositions, depreciation, and capitalization of rigging and reconditioning costs.
· Reconcile bank and cash accounts: Complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve reconciling items promptly.
· Support AR and AP: Partner with the AR and AP clerks on posting issues, coding questions, and month-end cutoffs; back them up during absences as needed.
· Coordinate audits and tax prep: Prepare workpapers and pull supporting detail for external auditors, tax preparers, and lenders as requested.
· Improve processes: Identify and implement improvements to the close process, chart of accounts, auto-accounting rules, and reconciliation templates. Maintain clear documentation of accounting procedures.
· Ad-hoc analysis: Support the Controller and CFO with ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting, and special projects.
· Additional duties: Collaborate closely with the Accounting, Rental, Sales, and Service teams. Participate in meetings and perform other accounting support tasks as assigned.
Required Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· 3+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience, including hands-on involvement in a monthly close.
· Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP as applied to a small or mid-sized company.
· Solid experience with balance sheet reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS, basic financial modeling).
· Experience working in an ERP or dealership/rental management system.
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills — able to hit close deadlines independently.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with the CFO, team members, and outside parties.
· High attention to detail, integrity, and discretion with confidential financial information.
Preferred Experience:
· CPA license or CPA candidate.
· Experience in equipment rental, trucking, leasing, fleet, dealership, or another asset-based business.
· Fixed asset accounting for a large or complex asset base.
· Familiarity with Excede / Procede or another dealership / rental management system.
· Audit experience.
· Experience with sales and use tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
Work Environment
· This is a full-time position with standard hours of 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday, with additional hours as needed during month-end close, year-end close, and audit.
· Primarily indoor office work at our Longview, TX location.
