TxDOT's Tyler District is looking for a Maintenance Office Support Tech I,II, or III for our Longview Maintenance Office. Come join the Longview Maintenance Office as a Support Tech. This position keeps the office running day to day, assisting with phone calls, meetings, employee onboarding, orders and procurement, data entry, timesheets, and many other important functions. The ideal candidate is able to communicate and respond quickly and professionally via phone or email to members of the public, coworkers, and local government stakeholders. Maintenance Support Tech I (A13): $35,439 - $52,388
Maintenance Support Tech II (A15): $38,976 - $58,045
Maintenance Support Tech III (A17): $42,976 - $64,469

Position Description
Performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Maintenance Support Tech II: Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Maintenance Support Tech III: Performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters and for one or more projects and/or specialized programs. May serve as a lead worker. Work requires contact with high-level managers, executives, governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:
Maintenance Support Tech I:
-
Answer the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and / or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant
-
Maintains and updates office files / records / logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and / or permitting activities
-
Monitors and assists with data entry for maintenance contract record keeping
-
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Maintenance Support Tech II all of the above and:

Composes and prepares correspondence and applicable recurring or special one-time reports and / or confidential and sensitive communications

Assists in preparing monthly and final maintenance contract estimates
Maintenance Support Tech III all of the above and:
-
Creates and maintains related activity logs, files and reports on services.

Evaluates and researches information to solve customer service problems.
-
Inputs and maintains daily production reports and compiles monthly reports for manager.
-
Logs, files, and cross-references correspondence; and verifies documents/records.

May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.

Provides information and assistance pertaining to procedures, laws, rules and/or regulations; refers customers to
appropriate source for problems or questions; processes special applications and reports. -
Retrieves information from master files or databases and verifies against applications, forms and other documents.

Coordinates with district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment.

Prepares monthly and final maintenance contract estimates.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
Maintenance Support Tech I: None
Maintenance Support Tech II: 1 year in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Maintenance Support Tech III: 3 years in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license at time of application. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Maintenance Support Tech I:

Maintenance Support Tech III:
