Full Job Description

Our customers are the people who build Texas and we're proud to help them get the job done. ROMCO EQUIPMENT COMPANY has supported the biggest names in the Texas construction and mining industries by filling their equipment needs since 1961.

JOB PURPOSE

ROMCO is currently seeking a dependable Maintenance/Make Ready Associate to join the team supporting the Longview, TX branch. The Maintenance/Make Ready Associate will be responsible for the make-ready of machinery, including operation of a pressure washer and transferring machines to and from the yard.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive equipment on yard
Monitor third-party freight companies coming on to and leaving the yard
Work with supervision to set priorities for make-ready of machinery
Conduct yard inventory and update hour meter readings
Safely clean machinery using pre-established guidelines for washrack area – using water hose only, no scraping with equipment
Keep washrack area clean and free of debris
Perform maintenance on holding tank, etc, as necessary
Monitor and perform maintenance to water recycling system and sprinkler functions
Perform litter pickup daily in the shop, yard and on the grounds
Keep central area between buildings clear of mud and debris
Sweep shop and surrounding areas
Minor repairs in the office and shop
All other job-related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Clerical - touch typing, filing, data entry, basic spreadsheet, e-mail, fax
Organizational - organize and prioritize tasks, work on schedule with deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven customer relation skills
Mechanical Aptitude - broad knowledge of construction machinery

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on, related experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be alert and is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a shop and outdoor environment. Operational hours can be from 7:00am to 5:00pm with occasional needs outside standard business hours to accommodate meetings, training, and projects. Some travel may be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and mobile devices. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
