Full Job Description

Waste Control, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a Missed Garbage Route Driver to join the team in Longview, Washington! This route varies from day to day. Missed pick-up drivers are dispatched out to customer accounts that have been missed by a Garbage Truck Driver, to service containers. This position also delivers new customer containers/carts and performs minor repairs on containers.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm with Occasional Overtime.

Rate of pay is $22.98/HR

Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver, place, remove, and exchange containers at customer locations safely and efficiently
Perform minor container repairs and report maintenance issues as needed
Ensure proper placement and securement of containers to meet safety and customer requirements
Ability to read route sheets or tablet and service each customer assigned by the dispatcher
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (fluids, safety equipment, lights, tire pressure)
Operate hydraulic hand controls
Provide courteous, professional interaction with customers

Requirements:

Ability to work a physically demanding job.; Loading and unloading.
Willingness to submit to and pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening test
Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments
Valid Driver’s license required
Clean Motor Vehicle Report
Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Working knowledge of D.O.T. laws
Safety Sensitive: YES

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects over 50 pounds.
Automatic Side Load Truck
Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which requires following basic safety precautions.
The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
