Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Fitter is to perform the layout and fitting of advanced or complete assemblies or fit over assemblies. The Fitter will have a hand in all aspects of the production of parts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operation of forklift, crane, ironworker (including punch and dies), saw, plasma cutter, track torch.
- Shoot welds on studs to the correct parameters.
- Perform equipment maintenance of ironworkers, saws, and plasma cutters.
- Read and understand shop drawings.
- Perform fit checks.
- Perform advanced layout on radius assemblies.
- Perform advanced rigging.
- Read drawings for root sizes, bevels, miters, hole sizes, gages of holes, access holes for welds.
- Implement safety guidelines.
- Review jobs with foreman.
- Effectively communicate with various internal teams including but not limited to; other leads, Project Management Team, Shipping and Receiving.
- Perform advanced rigging.
- Maintain and clean and safe workspace.
- Ability to perform Shop Foreman’s duties when needed.
- Other duties as required.
Financial Responsibilities
- There are no financial responsibilities for this position.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading 3-5 men production crews, overseeing multiple projects at a time.
- Train new skills to fitters for skill improvements.

Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to communicate in English both verbally and written is a plus.

- Report to work daily and on time prepared with tools and PPE.
- Ability to lead the shop.
- Ability to read measuring tape.
- Ability to use grinder and drills (mag drill and drill press).
- Ability to feed parts.
- Ability to operate basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to read part drawings and perform correct layout of parts.
- Ability to Pass F1 welding certification E71T-1C-H8.
- Ability to identify correct materials needed to perform various tasks.
- Ability to pass 1G and 2G certification in E71T-1C-H8 .045 and E70C-6M-H4 D1.1.
- Ability to identify basic welding symbols.
- Ability to setup welder to correct parameters.
- Complete CJP with a 90% success rate.
- Ability to Pass 3G & 4G certification E71T-1C-H8 .045 D1.1 .
- Ability to Pass D1.8 restricted access test in 1G and 4G.
- Ability to perform duties of Production Parts Worker, Welder and Fitter.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of tools used in the trade.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma (or equivalent) is a plus.
- 1-3 years working in structural and architectural steel welding.

- Physical Requirements
- Availability to report to different shift schedules as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to navigate active jobsites and production facilities. This includes being able to safely walk stairs, scaffold, and uneven ground, as well as duck and maneuver around obstacles.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
