Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced BIM Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and execution of BIM/VDC processes on commercial construction projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, designers, BIM modelers, trade partners, and field teams to ensure coordinated, constructible building system models that meet project schedules and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with Revit, Navisworks, and BIM coordination workflows, along with a solid understanding of mechanical building systems and commercial construction practices.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and manage BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead or participate in BIM/VDC coordination meetings with internal teams, clients, consultants, and trade partners.
Perform clash detection using Navisworks and work collaboratively with project teams to identify, track, and resolve coordination issues.
Create and manage coordination reports, clash logs, and constraint logs to support project progress.
Review Requests for Information (RFIs) and evaluate coordination impacts on project design and construction.
Develop and maintain accurate 2D and 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, and other BIM software.
Coordinate models across multiple disciplines to improve constructability and minimize field conflicts.
Manage project files, model versions, and documentation across network servers and cloud-based collaboration platforms.
Process background files and coordinate updates received from project partners.
Utilize Bluebeam and other markup tools to communicate revisions and coordinate design changes.
Perform quality control reviews to ensure models and drawings meet company, client, and project standards.
Prepare BIM deliverables, coordination packages, and construction documentation for project milestones.
Communicate design, coordination, and constructability challenges with project stakeholders while helping drive timely solutions.
Support project teams by improving BIM workflows, coordination processes, and overall project efficiency.
Mentor junior BIM Modelers and assist with technical guidance when needed.
Stay current on BIM technologies, software updates, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

Associate degree or technical certificate in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
2+ years of BIM coordination, BIM modeling, or VDC experience within the commercial construction industry.
Strong understanding of BIM/VDC workflows, coordination processes, and construction documentation.
Experience coordinating HVAC, plumbing, process piping, or other MEP building systems.
Advanced proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and project schedules.
Knowledge of construction materials, fabrication methods, installation practices, and field coordination.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Experience

Experience working for a mechanical contractor, MEP engineering firm, or design-build contractor.
Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, Revizto, or other collaboration platforms.
Experience supporting fabrication modeling, spooling, or installation drawings.
Understanding of commercial construction sequencing, scheduling, and constructability reviews.
Experience mentoring BIM Modelers or coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
