Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Los Alamos, NM is seeking a gifted and faith-filled Organist/Pianist/Keyboardist to join our worship ministry. This individual will play a vital role in leading our congregation in worship through music by providing instrumental accompaniment for worship services, choirs, and special musical events. Split positions such as separate organist/pianist and keyboardist will be considered as well as flexible schedules.
Position Summary
The Organist/Pianist/Keyboardist is responsible for providing music for regular worship services and designated special services, accompanying the Mountain Top Singers choir, and supporting the worship life of the congregation through excellence in musical leadership. This position serves as an important member of the worship ministry team and works collaboratively with the Pastor, Music Director, church staff, and volunteers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide organ, piano, or keyboard music for regular Sunday worship services and special services throughout the church year, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, except as otherwise arranged.
- Accompany choirs during rehearsals and worship services.
- Accompany soloists and other special musicians as needed.
- Serve as the preferred accompanist for funerals and other special services.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A heart for worship and commitment to helping the congregation participate in worship.
- Experience accompanying choirs or groups on organ, piano, and/or keyboard.
- Successful completion of an FBI background check.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salaried position based on qualifications.
- May include personal leave depending on level of duties.
- Does not include health insurance or retirement benefits.
- This is a part-time position averaging approximately 6 -8 hours per week, including worship services and choir rehearsals.
