Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Operating Room (OR) Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes during surgical procedures. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care, ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient environment for a variety of surgical interventions. Your energy and dedication will support surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional patient care from pre-op to post-op recovery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting that values precision, compassion, and continuous learning.

Duties

Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all sterile equipment and supplies are ready for scheduled surgeries, adhering strictly to aseptic technique standards.
Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, managing surgical tools, and maintaining a sterile field to promote optimal outcomes.
Monitor patient vital signs continuously during surgery using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to document real-time data accurately.
Administer medications including anesthesia agents and pain management drugs with precision, following strict protocols and medication administration guidelines.
Support patient assessment before surgery by reviewing medical histories, performing physical examinations, and evaluating physiological parameters to ensure readiness for anesthesia and procedure.
Manage airway control and ventilator support during surgeries requiring advanced airway management techniques or ventilator use.
Provide post-operative care including wound dressing changes, suturing assistance, and monitoring for signs of infection or complications following procedures like catheterization or ostomy care.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, patient education on recovery protocols, and long-term care needs such as memory care or hospice & palliative medicine when applicable.
Oversee protocols and processes. Preop and Post Op patients

Experience

Proven experience working in an operating room environment with exposure to diverse surgical specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), trauma medicine (Level I & II trauma center experience), or critical care units like ICU or PICU.
Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities including ICD coding and CPT coding where relevant.
Strong background in aseptic technique, sterile processing, specimen collection/processing, and infection control practices essential for maintaining a safe surgical environment.
Experience administering injections, IV infusions, phlebotomy, and managing complex medication regimens including botulinum toxin treatments or dermal fillers if applicable.
Familiarity with advanced procedures such as spinal taps, gastric lavage, sonography, or laboratory testing enhances your ability to support comprehensive perioperative care.
Prior roles involving medical-surgical nursing, emergency room experience, or outpatient surgical settings will provide a solid foundation for this fast-paced position.
Knowledge of physiology principles related to anatomy knowledge and diagnostic evaluation ensures precise patient assessment throughout the perioperative process.
