Karoun Dairies, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring an Inventory Supervisor, based in San Fernando, California.
The Inventory Supervisor is a key inventory leader and key player responsible for driving inventory control activities across our three business distribution center locations ensuring accurate inventory allocation, movement, reconciliation, and reporting for our products. This role supports our fast-paced dairy and specialty ethnic consumer packaged goods environment serving DSD, mainstream accounts, retail, wholesale, and logistics channels where product integrity, inventory accuracy, lot control, compliance practices, and timely coordination with operations, logistics, customer service, sales, internal and external partners are essential.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, data-driven, and experienced in managing inventory movement within warehouse, distribution, DSD, logistics, or food/consumer packaged goods operations. Strong hands-on knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, inventory transactions, allocation processes, logistics partner coordination, and inventory support for mainstream customer accounts is required.

Essential: Inventory Allocation, Inventory Accuracy
- Oversee inventory accuracy, allocation, transfers, adjustments, reconciliation, and movement across three distribution center locations.
- Monitor daily inventory levels, product availability, lot status, aging, holds, damages, discrepancies, and warehouse movement activity to support customer orders and operational priorities.
- Lead cycle counts, physical inventory processes, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions to maintain high inventory accuracy and reduce shrink, mis-picks, shortages, and overages.
- Manage inventory allocation for finished goods, ensuring products are properly assigned, released, transferred, and available to meet DSD, mainstream account, retail, customer, sales, and logistics requirements.
- Serve as a key inventory point of contact for DSD and mainstream account needs, helping ensure product availability, accurate stock positioning, and timely communication of inventory risks or constraints.
- Ensure accurate SAP S/4HANA inventory transactions, including transfers, receipts, adjustments, postings, reversals, lot/batch tracking, and reporting.
- Partner closely with warehouse operations, transportation, third-party logistics providers, DSD teams, customer service, procurement, sales, quality, and finance to resolve inventory and shipment-related issues.
- Support inventory flow for dairy and perishable finished goods, including product rotation, expiration dating, temperature-sensitive handling requirements, and quality and if applicable, hold processes.
- Review and investigate inventory discrepancies between physical counts, SAP records, warehouse reports, and logistics partner data.
- Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures for inventory control, allocation, movement, cycle counting, and location-to-location transfers.
- Prepare inventory reports, KPI summaries, discrepancy logs, allocation updates, and operational dashboards for leadership review.
- Provide proactive inventory visibility and updates for mainstream accounts, DSD activity, customer commitments, allocation priorities, and product availability concerns.
- Support audits, traceability requests, product recalls, quality investigations, and internal control reviews as needed.
- Promote a safe, compliant, and organized work environment in alignment with company policies, food safety standards, OSHA requirements, and California workplace expectations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory counts and recorded quantities.
- Collaborate with the Management to identify root causes of discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Document and report findings to management as needed.
- Analyze Existing Inventory Processes using various continuous improvement methods.
- Lead key projects, audit for improvement identification across the warehouse and inventory areas.
- Supervise inventory analyst(s) and collaborate with warehouse leadership, internally and with external 3PL partners, to re-engineer processes as needed to drive improvement.
- Establish measurable standards, and monitor progress, of both day-to-day activities and focused improvement projects.
- Verify and maintain proper inventory accuracy to meet internal and external customer needs
- Ensure all required inventory counts are completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure all reports, losses, adjustments, reconciliations, and tasks are completed timely and accurate manner. Identify insights and actions to improve results.
- Conduct various work investigations, problem solving, data collecting and work assignments for operations management.
- Provide inventory process knowledge, including training, improvement initiatives, process tools and methodologies.
- Use SAP to manage inventory transactions and reporting
- Review and approve inventory adjustments, transfers, and corrections in SAP
- Investigate and resolve SAP discrepancies between system records and physical counts or warehouse management systems
- Maintain data accuracy
- Generate SAP reports to track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, turns, and shrink
Inventory Management:
- Maintain and update inventory records.
- Create efficient and accurate inventory management procedures.
- Perform all daily activities necessary to maintain accurate inventory results.
- Reconcile physical and system inventories and make adjustments when necessary.
- Coordinate the monthly physical inventory procedures.
- Allocates inventory and releases orders to the warehouse.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in inventory management software or databases.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder points, communicating with management regarding stock replenishment needs.

Required Qualifications
- Prior Inventory control Supervisor/Management, warehouse inventory, distribution, logistics, supply chain, or related operational experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing inventory allocation, inventory movement, cycle counts, reconciliations, and inventory accuracy programs in support of customer fulfillment, DSD, or mainstream account requirements.
- Experience supporting inventory activity across multiple locations, warehouses, distribution centers, or storage facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or comparable ERP/WMS systems, with the ability to execute and troubleshoot inventory transactions.
- Ability to analyze inventory data, identify discrepancies, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills, including the ability to work with large data sets, inventory reports, and operational metrics.
- Experience partnering with logistics providers, transportation teams, warehouse operations, and cross-functional business partners.
- Experience supporting inventory needs for DSD operations, mainstream retail accounts, wholesale accounts, grocery accounts, or similar customer channels.
- Strong communication, follow-through, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Ability to work on-site in a distribution center environment and support operational needs across multiple shifts or locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in dairy, refrigerated, perishable, food distribution, specialty food, consumer packaged goods, grocery, DSD, mainstream retail accounts, or similar industry is highly preferred.
- Experience with lot control, batch tracking, expiration dating, product rotation, product holds, recalls, and traceability processes.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in inventory control for warehouse operations, logistics, or distribution operations.
- Knowledge of food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, FSMA, or related compliance practices preferred.
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers, carriers, external warehouses, or multi-site distribution networks.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, operations management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of inventory controls, allocation logic, stock movement, warehouse location management, DSD inventory flow, mainstream account service expectations, and distribution center workflows.
- Ability to balance operational urgency with inventory accuracy, documentation discipline, and compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify patterns, exceptions, and recurring inventory issues.
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and external logistics partners to resolve time-sensitive inventory and shipment issues.
- Ability to lead through influence, train team members, and reinforce consistent inventory processes across multiple locations.
- Strong judgment, accountability, and ownership of inventory results, with the ability to act as a key player in protecting inventory accuracy, customer service levels, and operational execution.
