SUMMARY OF WORK PERFORMED: The Quality Assurance Specialist, under the direction of QA Supervisor, will provide support related to quality assurance, compliance, billing, and contract monitoring activities for Los Angeles County Mental Health, Wraparound services, and Mental Health Partnership with Schools. This role will be responsible for quality assurance review of documentation, and the gathering and tracking of outcomes data and reports. This person is expected to contribute to keeping high agency standards while supporting high-quality services and positive outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

Attend scheduled staff meetings, community meetings and meetings with LA County as determined by Program Director.
Monitor to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all required documentation.
Perform internal audits on a monthly basis to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
Assist in preparation of internal, County and State review and audits for compliance, scheduling, as well as accountability and internal responsibility.
Audit billing from subcontractors to verify time billed is in accordance with contract.
Facilitate orientation and training on EHR for all mental health employees and subcontractors to meet required program paperwork.
Work with Directors and Supervisors to support mental health providers.
Responsible for generating reports including but not limited to documentation correction trends and regulatory compliance.
Work with the Olive Crest Quality Improvement Dept. to maintain COA standards as well as seeking to improve quality of the program and effectively measure outcomes.
Track and monitor all Continuous Quality Improvement projects.
Set up all new billing providers in both the NPPES website and Provider Registration Maintenance System.
Track referrals to program in accordance with internal and County expectations.
Oversee charts, filing, and scanning of documentation for clients served in a timely and routine manner.
Provide documents as needed for records request while protecting clients’ information.
Other related duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, human services, business administration or related field.
Familiarity with Medi-Cal requirements for mental health billing, documentation and managed care systems of care.
At least 2 years experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement at a DMH-contracted or directly operated program.
Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and trainable in use of Electronic Health Record.
Must obtain and maintain record clearance free from criminal convictions.
Must provide a Negative Mantoux PPD Test/chest x-ray not more than one year prior to commencing work and maintain every three (3) years.
Must have and maintain a valid California Driver License, clean driving record, and uphold auto insurance throughout employment.
Able to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
Demonstrate flexibility, dependability, professionalism, and strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Display good judgment, maturity, and problem-solving ability.
Maintain eligibility to participate in federal health care programs; eligibility is checked monthly through the Federal, State, and County Sanctions lists.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual- English/Spanish speaking
Familiarity with, and willingness to utilize, community resources.
Comfortable building relationships with culturally diverse families.
At least two (2) years full-time equivalent experience (paid or unpaid) in delivering services in the mental health field.
