Medical Claim Review Nurse (Clinical Validation Reviewer) | Remote | Contract

Walker Healthforce is seeking a Medical Claim Review Nurse (Clinical Validation Reviewer) for a remote contract opportunity. This position is responsible for performing clinical validation reviews of inpatient and outpatient medical claims to ensure diagnoses, procedures, and reimbursement methodologies accurately reflect the documented clinical condition and services rendered.

Location: Remote - Must reside in one of the 17 approved states (AZ, FL, GA, ID, IA, KY, MI, MS, NE, NM, NY (outside greater-NYC), OH, SC, TX, UT, WA (outside greater-Seattle), WI

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Local Time Zone, Flexible)

Duration: 3-Month Contract with potential for extension

Employment Type: W2

Core Requirements:

Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 2 years of inpatient payment integrity medical claim review experience, including DRG Validation or Itemized Bill Review
Minimum 2 years of experience with ICD-10, MS-DRG, AP-DRG, APR-DRG, CPT, and HCPCS
Acute care (hospital) experience required
Strong knowledge of clinical documentation, coding guidelines, and reimbursement methodologies
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills

We Consider It a Bonus If You Also Have:

Itemized bill review experience
CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CIC, CDIP, CPC, or other advanced HIM/Coding certifications
Experience using evidence-based clinical reference tools such as UpToDate or Merck Manual

Job Responsibilities:

Perform clinical validation reviews of inpatient and outpatient claims
Review diagnoses, procedures, revenue codes, and billed charges for accuracy
Conduct DRG validation and itemized bill reviews
Apply ICD-10 coding principles and evidence-based clinical guidelines
Develop clear written rationales supporting review determinations
Ensure compliance with payer policies and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with coding, payment integrity, SIU, and physician advisors
Meet established quality and productivity standards
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training
